Why do you suppose one of the most intelligent men in American history would remove all references to miracles from the New Testament?

Why would he remove references to the resurrection?

Thomas Jefferson is usually given credit for writing the Constitution. So, why would a man who help found this "Christian nation" re-write the bible to remove all references to the "Trinity"?

Excerpted from Wikipedia article:

"Miracles and references to the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus are notably absent from the Jefferson Bible. The Bible begins with an account of Jesus's birth without references to angels, genealogy, or prophecy. The work ends with the words: "Now, in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus. And rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed." There is no mention of the resurrection."

Christians are not people that just go to Church and pray, read the bible, and do boring stuff. They are not people who have just been christened, or baptised. They aren't people that do good works.
Yes they do some of these things but that doesn't make them a Christian.
A Christian is someone who realises they are a sinner and that they are not good enough for God. They know Jesus died on the cros for their sin, and that He came back to life to give them new life.
They have confesed their sin and asked Jesus into their life and He has made them new people.
They aren't perfect and don't claim to be. They love to worship the Almighty. They thank Jesus for his death and resurrection. They love to tell others that they too are sinners and that they can't go to heaven with sin. But if they turn to Jesus they can know forgiveness and everlasting life in heaven.
Now you might not believe in God but thanks for reading this because at least you can't say you don't anything about Jesus.

please don't just say "yes". i'd like for you to explain to me, why you think YOU would've been able to "rise above" islam. ------ and IF christianity is a choice that we're all capable of making, then why is it that 90% of the middle east is muslim and the majority of americans are christian?? is this just a coincidence???

if you say that it has to do with upbringing, then you can no longer say that believing in jesus is a choice that we're all equally as capable of making.

and if you admit then that a person born in the u.s. is in fact MORE LIKELY to believe in jesus than a person born in the middle east is, then that must mean that god is giving certain people advantages over other people. and if that's the case, then you can't say that god loves all of his children equally, now can you?

THE MESSAGE OF ISLAM

Since the total submission of one's will to Allah represents the essence of worship, the basic message of Allah's divine religion, Islam is the worship of Allah alone and the avoidance of worship directed to any person, place or thing other than Allah.Since everything other than Allah, the Creator of all things, is Allah's creation; it may be said that Islam, in essence calls man away from the worship of creation and invites him to worship only its Creator. He is the only one deserving man's worship as it is only by His will that prayers are answered. If man prays to a tree and his prayers are answered, it was not the tree which answered his prayers but Allah who allowed the circumstances prayed for to take place. One might say, "That is obvious," however, to tree-worshippers it might not be. Similarly, prayers to Jesus, Buddha, or Krishna, to Saint Christopher, or Saint Jude or even to Muhammad, are not answered by them but are answered by Allah. Jesus did nottell his followers to worship him but to worship Allah. As the Qur'aan states:

"And behold Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary Did you say to men, Worship me and my mother as gods besides Allah He will say-"Glory to you I could never say what I had no right (to say')" (Soorah Al-Maa'idah- 5:116)

Nor did he worship himself when he worshipped but rather he worshipped Allah. This basic principle is enshrined in the opening chapter of the Qur'aan, known as Soorah Al-Faatihah, verse 4:

"You alone do we worship and from you alone do we seek help".
Elsewhere, in the final book of revelation, the Qur'aan, Allah also said:

"And your Lord says:"Call on Me and I will answer your(prayer)."(Soorsh Mu'min 40:60)

it is worth noting that the basic message of Islam is that Allah and His creation are distinctly different entities. Neither is Allah His creation or a part of it, nor is His creation Him or a part of Him.

This might seem obvious, but, man's worship of creation instead of the Creator is to a large degree based on ignorance of this concept. It is the belief that the essence of Allah is everywhere in His creation or that His divine being is or was present in some aspects of His creation, which has provided justification for the worship of creation though such worship maybecalled the worship of Allah through his creation. How ever, the message of Islam as brought by the prophets of Allah is to worship only Allah and to avoid the worship of his creation either directly or indirectly. In the Our'aan Allah clearlystates:

"For We assuredly sent amongst every people a prophet,(with the command) worship meand avoid false gods " (Soorsh Al-Nahl 16:36)

When the idol worshipper is questioned as to why he or she bows down to idols created by men, the invariable reply is that they are not actually worshipping the stone image, but Allah who is present within it. They claim that the stone idol is only a focal point for Allah's essence and is not in itself Allah! One who has accepted the concept of the presence of God's being within His creation in any way will be obliged to accept this argument of idolatry. Whereas, one who understands the basic message of Islam and its implications would never concede to idolatry no matter how it is rationalized. Those who have claimed divinity for themselves down through the ages have often based their claims on the mistaken belief that Allah is present in man. They merely had to assert that although Allah according to their false beliefs, is in all of us, He is more present in them than in the rest of us. Hence, they claim, we should submit our will to them and worship them as they are either God in person or God concentrated within the person.

Similarly, those who have asserted the godhood of others after their passing have found fertile ground among those who accept the false belief of God's presence in man. One who has grasped the basic message of Islam and its implications could never agree to worship another human being under any circumstances. God's religion in essence is a clear call to the worship of the Creator and the rejection of creation-worship in any form. This is the meaning of the motto of Islam:

"Laa Elaaha lllallaah" (There is no god but Allah)

Its repetition automatically brings one within the fold of Islam and sincere belief in it guarantees one Paradise.

Thus, the final Prophet of Islam is reported to have said, "Any one who says: There is no god but Allah and dies holding that (belief) will enter paradise".(Reported by Abu Dharr and collected by Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim).

It consists in the submission to Allah as one God, yielding to Him by obeying His commandments, and the denial of polytheism and polytheists.

I'm not answering my own question because it's your experiences I want to hear about, but I can give an example of what I'm looking for. In 1911, an uncle of my paternal grandmother was hanged for the murder of his business partner. I have a copy of the newspaper which covered the event, and it's quite fascinating. Another part of my story is that my maternal grandmother, who was not related to any of those people, was standing in her front yard when she saw a man race by in a buggy while whipping his horse. This was my paternal grandmother's uncle who had committed the murder just minutes before. I always teased my maternal grandmother about it because I, her first grandchild, wound up being related to him. She would say, "Please don't remind me."

Rape victim was 15 year old child

Details emerge in alleged atrocity by U.S. troops

By Ellen Knickmeyer

07/03/06 "Washington Post" -- -- BAGHDAD, Iraq — Fifteen-year-old Abeer Qasim Hamza was afraid, her mother confided in a neighbor.

As pretty as she was young, the girl had attracted the unwelcome attention of U.S. soldiers manning a checkpoint that the girl had to pass through almost daily in their village in the south-central city of Mahmoudiya, her mother told the neighbor.

Abeer told her mother often in her last days that the soldiers had made advances toward her, a neighbor, Omar Janabi, said this weekend, recounting a conversation he said he had with the girl's mother, Fakhriyah, on March 10.

Fakhriyah feared the Americans might come for her daughter at night, at their home. She asked her neighbor if Abeer might sleep at his house, with the women there.

Janabi said he agreed. Then, "I tried to reassure her, remove some of her fear," Janabi said.

Please, I only want serious answers, I am so sick of gay bashers, so stay out of it!
Anyways, my gf is from Denmark, and we are interested in having our home in the states, but of course for her to live here she would have to get a green card seeing as our marriage isn't recognized here...we aren't married yet, but we can legally be married here in Denmark...I was just wondering if there is someway or something I dont know that could work for us, or if we should just live here in Denmark where there aren't so many horrid people out there...and where we are accepted, and just take that and move away from everything I have ever known...I really think that is so completely unfair, but I am who I am, and I am so happy with her, it can't be any other way...what are our options?
