Is there anyone out there who knows of (and believes) the prophecies of St Malachy? Curious as to whether you believe the current pope is meant to be Petrus Romanus, or will that be his successor?

I just read the wikipedia account of St. Malachy and the article regarding his list of papal prophecyies. I must say that this is extremely fascinating and perplexing. Some of the last several prophecies are shaky; others seem solid enough. Gloria Olivae at this point does not make sense, but Benedict has only been the pope for one year, so it's okay that it doesn't make sense. There are so many gaps in prophecy fulfillment, though... the lives of many popes apparently had no correlation whatsoever with the prophecy given. Additionally, there is that bit about the authenticity of the last prophecy. I cannot possibly answer this question. I can speculate that Petrus Romanus will be a different person than Benedict. It is odd that Benedict was the last one listed, isn't it? I wonder why. I am so glad that you asked this question, because I never would have heard of it otherwise. It probably is bothering you as much as it is me!
