Lighter african americans hate darker ones -etc (not all... but still, why????)?

This issue dates back to slavery days. Back then the white masters use to discriminate by having darker skinned blacks work in the fields and those with lighter skinned worked in the house. This caused animosity among them because the darker skinned blacks felt as if the lighter skinned blacks had it better and the lighter skinned blacks felt as if they were better because they did not have to do any hard labor out in the fields. Also, depending on how light their complexion was...some were able to pass as white(which gave them an opportunity at a better life). It is sad to say but that ignorant way of thinking has been passed down from generation to generation. We call that Slave Mentality.

It's not just Blacks...
It was taught way back when that the lighter you were, the more "accepted" you were by White people. I don't know why this belief still carries on today other than ignorance but, it's pretty unfortunate.

its unfortunate but true in some instances, it comes from years of brainwashing and low self esteem during a darker time. thankfully we are well educated and know this does nothing but seperate us as a people and that we are all beautiful whatever shade GOD made us.

Most Peaple of the black persuation dont hate one another,they differ like whites or any other hritage or culture,they were taught of their parculars as any other child and have preferences also.to dislike another sister or brother is an awful matter ,wouldnt you say so?

There arent any white people around to hate, or Mexicans, Asian,Polish,Irish,Republicans And the occasional Jewish person.

For the same reason people discriminate against fat people, stupid people, other ethnicity's....ignorance, brain washing and fear.
