There were two...when I was a little girl there were rumors all the time about how The US would be bombed by Russia with an Atomic bomb. We were instructed in school to duck under our desks and cover our heads and eyes. This was a really scarey thing once a week when we had drills
The second one was the Cuban Crisis. We were told to pack water and food into the trunks of our cars and be prepared to move out immediately if told to do so. The news was not like it is today usually but they were busy broadcasting all day and nite for a week telling us how serious and sure a threat this was. Especially if you lived in one of the places where there was a Strategic Air Command base and we were right in the middle of one.

I was in a lot of trouble with cops earlier in my life due to drugs. now Ive been clean for 10 yrs. I went back to where i used and saw an officer who didn't even recognize me clean!! He said he heard a rumor that i had died of an overdose and that's why no one had heard from me in a while!!!. (too bad the truth couldn't have gotten spread around that i have 3 kids a degree and a wonderful crime and drug free life now!)
