I don't mean the smell of feces, urine or vomit; those are recognizable smells that any human can have. I mean that special weird smell that infants have, even when they are clean (and, no, it's not the baby grooming products); I find it repulsive, and know two others who also find it...disagreeable. I'm wondering if anyone else here knows this nasty smell, and agrees that it is unpleasant.
No offense meant to any infants reading this, of course.

Of course, that funny smell *could* be me (why not!), but I only seem to notice it when less than 4 feet from an infant. I take this as a clue.
I have an unusually keen sense of smell & taste, so this may be the problem.

I think they smell WONDERFUL!!
Yesterday I was in the market and a tiny baby was giggling at her mom and that caught my attention and my heart. I suddenly wanted to pick her up and kiss her so that I could smell her. I could actually smell that magical infant scent even though I wasn't close enough to smell it.
Knowing how strongly I react to scent, I don't find it particularly unusual that you would be affected strongly as well. You are, however, the first one I have ever heard express the scent of a baby as repulsive. Interesting!

No, I do not believe that babies smell funny, certain people do and maybe you are one of them. Babies are sweet and lovable,that make you want to cuddle them. That was a big injustice remark about babies. I find you an obnoxious person, that isn't very nice to be around with.

Old people have funny smell too. The old bastards.At least I 'm relieved you won't eat babies as Jonathan Swift suggests we do.

Oh no!!! I love the way babies smell!!! When I am holding any baby, the first thing I do is nuzzle them right between their neck and shoulder because I just love that baby smell!!!

Maybe your smeller is off kilter? When a baby is clean there is no bad smell! Same for adults or any living thing.Have you considered maybe you are smelling yourself?

It's spit from all the drool people give them kisses on their cheeks. Also, it's the smell of their insides from the milk that has curdled in their tummies.

I think they smell fresh.. They don't have bad breath or odors. They don't get musty or anything. I love baby smell.
