Knowledge is power

In the dark ages the Church has all the education and therefor, the knowledge, and thus the power.

Now for a long time in history the secular world has the opportunity to get an education, thus they have knowledge, and are taking away power from the religious right.

What is the reason that black Americans want to be called African American? Why not just be called American and leave the black part to the obvious? I only ask because it seems to me that by wanting a title that you just seperate yourself from the rest of America and isn't that what you DON"T want? Meaning equal treatment and consideration and respect.

my ex-boyfriend who is nonchristian...think's i cheat. If i put a bible verse from PETER in my profile, he'll say im cheating cause i put a guy in my profile. If i talk to a guy, he calls me a slut/cheater cause i talked to a guy. Im not a slut, im sexually pure. Im a virgin, waiting for marriage, havn't done anything sexual.

He blames everything on me...what do i say to him, when he calls me a slut/cheater. and says he can get better than me.

Christ has helped me through this, and i love him for everything hes done for me.

Especially all of you all!

Usually, the more secular a culture is, the more open-minded and tolerant it will be. Conversely, fundamentalism tends to cause cultures to have less equality & fewer freedoms (like the Islamic theocracies where women have no freedom, and people can be stoned to death for speaking their minds).
Will humanity ever evolve past a place where people need religion? Much like a child believes in Santa Claus, until they reach the age when they realize their parents left that bicycle under the tree, humanity seems to still be in its infancy -- when will we collectively reach the age where we realize that Santa doesn't exist, that we are responsible for our own actions and future?
Or is it possible that humanity will slide backwards, de-evolving & becoming more ingorant & violent until we have destroyed ourselves and our planet completely?

My boyfriend and I have decided to "wait until marrige". Neither of us are virgins, but I want to respect him and his spiritual needs. He has agreed to "everything, but penetration" which confuses me. I am also trying to grow in my Christianity. For a 30-something WOMAN this is really tough! Where can I find in the bible the definition of sexual impurity? Isn't mutual mastubation a sin as well? I'm trying so hard to understand why one is ok and not the other. Just can't quite bring myself to ask him...hmmm?!

Do you think there's a huge impact on young people today because so many art and music classes are being done away with in schools because of money concerns? What kind of impact will it have in the future? Should they be brought back or re-instated and cut budgets elsewhere?

to eat your favorite food everyday? Is that considered addiction? another "manmade law?" How is it different if you eat poptart or smoke everyday? a poptart is just as bad as smoking and I have known people that live healthy lives still get cancer or other diseases.
