It hasn't been confirmed, but Lincoln might have been an atheist. Washington and Jefferson were (this has been confirmed I do believe) deists (they believed in God, but thought he had abandoned this world after creating it, so not really Jewish or Christian, but same God) Think of how well they governed this country. Washington, Jefferson, and Franklin were all deists, and they basically set up the whole future of this country, and we're a super power now! I'm an atheist, and think that we could use a change of pace when it comes to the religion of our president. In 2004, it wasn't a matter of who I agreed with more, Kerry or Bush, it was who I didn't disagree with more. We haven't had a really good president in far too long, and with grim times like these, we need a good one.

If you are talking about Bush - I have to wonder. A Christian is supposed to be "Christ like." Bush certainly is not.
I personally feel that all religion should be kept out of Politics. A total division of church and state. Unfortunately, a whole lot of people have died (Crusades, etc) because of it. If you believe there is no God - that is your choice. By saying "in God We Trust" is OK on money, you are much more tolerant than a lot of "Christians" that I know. I give you a lot of credit.

No matter who is in the government you will not agree with all of them. That does not mean they should not govern you.
I'm not worried about offending anyone. I'm a Christian and if you don't like it that is your choice, but I'm not going to hide the fact or cower down because what someone else might think.
You need to read the real meaning for the separation of church and state.
Rules are set in place for a reason. Vote and express your views that way.

President Bush is a Baptist, and from the South. He was elected in part because of this. The Christian right is the reason why he’s president because they seem to be the only people who vote! I could not agree with you more that if a person’s religion is taking part in what they are turning into law, then it is an issue. However, this is why our government is set up the way it is so that religious nut jobs can not pass their religious laws.

I agree with you and I do believe in God. God should be a personal experience. I don't care if the President is a Christian or not. He just needs to be a good person and do what is best for everybody. Unfortunately, he's a whack job and all he cares about is money.

The only church-state issue is that the church should
exercises much more influence on the state. People have begun to understand this, and that is why Bush got elected, two times!!!
