Knowledge is power

In the dark ages the Church has all the education and therefor, the knowledge, and thus the power.

Now for a long time in history the secular world has the opportunity to get an education, thus they have knowledge, and are taking away power from the religious right.

there is nothing wrong with secular people being educated about religious doctrine.so long as secular people, don't become hypocrites, like some Christians who proclaim the truth, by selling a pack of lies to dogs in heat.religion is not the weapon.power is the weapon that strikes the victim down.like if you have a person who kills another person with a gun,do you say the gun killed the person?never! the person, with the power of the gun in his hands, is the one with responsibility.if a drunk kills someone, do we say that drinkin should be banned? never! the person who drank till he got drunk with power, is the one at fault.if you have a person who slammed his girlfriend to the ground, because he was high on drugs, do we say the drugs are at fault? never! the guy was at fault for slamming his girlfriend because, he had the power to control himself.true power comes from within, not directed outward by egocentric forces.however, religion, spirits, and rage all influence ones power, if one lets it.ultimately, individuals should be made accountable for atrocities, not religion, or many people will be let go of crimes because "religion" made them do it.sorry, Sean, the words just flowed from my mind, and i couldn't stop writing.
God Bless

Define "religious right." If you mean conservative (wishing to conserve older or traditional values) then this is a better and less confrontational term. I suggest that there is not a problem in the religious right that has to do with knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. There are probably more people studying and learning in mosques, temples and churches than ever before. I hope that they are doing so to gain both knowledge and wisdom. Science is not fact. It is instead the search for knowledge. It does not create wisdom. Look at the German Holocaust. Many of the atrocities were committed in the name of science. Look at the crusades. Atrocities were committed in the name of religion, both christian and muslim. None of these show wisdom, just misunderstood and misused knowledge. Education with wisdom is no threat to religion because finally wisdom permits us to recognized that religions have provided a central core of morality and civility to the world.

You're right, it's a big problem, because the Fundies don't want anything taught that doesn't agree with their narrow, fairy-tale-centric views. Knowledge is power. That's why religion has fought science, knowledge, thought and education for centuries.

That's exactly what's happening. And that's why things are moving so fast. We've got thousands of years of brainwashing to get out of our cultures, but we've made incredible progress in doing so in just the last 200 years or so. In 100 years, I predict the extinction of religion as we know it today...

Edit below... : For the love of pete, quit saying Albert Einstein believed in God. I get so tired of hearing that crap. He was a secular humanist, though he was born a Jew!

it is perspective. why must educated people not have religion? Albert Einstein said that the more he studied the more he believed...most scientists throughtout history were in fact sponsored by the church and not by royals or wealthy people. ok so churches aren't be beliefs but i just don't think that science disproves a god. maybe christianity but people forget that christianity isnt everybodys belief.

Doesn't the tale of Adam and Eve, in essence, teach fear of knowledge -- to the point where you are fearful of even seeking out knowledge -- let alone actually obtaining it?
