Do you think there's a huge impact on young people today because so many art and music classes are being done away with in schools because of money concerns? What kind of impact will it have in the future? Should they be brought back or re-instated and cut budgets elsewhere?

A society rises and falls by its support of the arts. Never did a society in history rise without honoring and supporting the arts. Likewise, never has a society fallen without first letting its interest in art and music wane.

Studies show that kids that participate in the arts have high academic scores. Just imagine a future with no true music or art. How were most of us explosed to art? School. The impact would be greater than imaginable

There is a great impact, but let us think who is governing and what are their aims!
They just want to produce tools for their industry; the less thoughtful possible - so they will obey, follow, be inactive!
Arts, on the other side, expand the mind, improve brains, cultivate people! Who wants that? Definitely not the governors!

Music and art should never have been taken from schools. They are crucial to human expression and developement. I believe that the budget concerns are just a cop out. Thats why we pay school taxes and have a state lottery system,how could we not have funding for our schools. How about smaller lottery jack pots and more school funding

i went to an elementary school with absolutely no extra-curricular activites. when i got involved in the arts i felt forsaken because everyone seemed to know more than me because of music and art programs in grade school.
so it impacts heavily.
in my opinion, athletics budgets should be cut. in my city, all everyone thinks about is sports. but when our choirs and bands win awards? there's no recogniton. >.<

I really don't think that there is that big of a problem created by that, not nigh as much of a problem as is being caused by the over spending on athletic programs, at least here anyways.
