Psychology - October 2007

I'm 18 and at the moment i'm in a very awkward position that mentally thinks i'm unable to talk to people and live ab-normal. In school i had the best looking girlfriends, so i guess i'm not ugly, i currently stay at home and part of the time i usually go on online games and use my headset to talk to people which i think boosts social skills.

Another problem is a letter thats worth £3,000 that i have to get an official witness like a dentist to sign. A simple task like this has an effect that says "oh no interacting with strangers" and go into alert mode. But half of me wants me to go there ask for the guy that has to sign it, post it, wait 2 weeks then i got some cash to help with driving lessons and buy things i really want.

Next week i have my first job seekers meeting that a guy should help me find an ideal job that will start me earning and prove my mum i'm not lazy. (she doesnt understand my social issues)

I feel like I've been lying to myself for quite awhile and it's become a second nature coping mechanism. I've enmeshed myself into a life that I feel like I can't escape without hurting people that I love. I'm not a drug user, just apathetic and depressed. I feel life ebbing away.

I guess this is just another way of asking can money make you happy? Which leads to another question. Can a lack of money make you unhappy or sad?

I'm not saying that I believe that money can buy happiness. However, I do believe that money is a necessity in the U.S. and the more that you have the more you are able to enjoy and experience.

As an american who has been in the work force since early 90's I can honestly say that the vast majority of stresses that I have experienced have been related to finances.

I am interested in what other's think.

Have you ever reacted to something without thinking and felt like you may have been temporarily insane at that moment that you reacted because if you had been thinking logically you wouldn't have reacted in that same way?

Some dude was driving really horrible, speeding, weaving in and out of traffic and then he turned right from the left hand lane right in front of my car. A block later he turned into the parking lot of the building I work at, I guess he works in the same building. I followed him and when he got out of his car I just started yelling at him like a psychopath. If I was in my right mind I never would have done that.

I read an essay on the Internet where somebody wrote "If I was bored it was my fault and no one else's . The obligation to amuse and instruct myself was entirely my own ." . I always figured if I think being single and unattached is boring, it's because I don't have a girlfriend, and I just don't like bars . I decided I need a relationship to sink my teeth into . I figured being without a girlfriend CAN'T be exciting . Am I wrong in thinking being without a girlfriend is boring ? If I'm wrong, how am I wrong ? Why do I think being single is boring ?

I went to the doctor a couple of days ago for a regular checkup. The doc noticed that i cut myself. I didnt think she would notice because my cuts are pretty much healed. Anyway she was worried about them. She asked if my family was aware. I said no. I want to keep it that way. I am not suicidal. I don't do it all of the time and it not something am proud of. I am seeing a psychologist. I just dont want my parents worrying about me. My can't say anything to my parents because of doctor/patient confidentiality, right?? By the way I am over18 and in college.

Last night, just as we were falling asleep my fiance sits up and is crying and mumbling about how he never thought he'd think of this.... and when i asked what he was talking about he revealled that he's been contemplating suicide.... He was going crazy and really scaring me: rolling around the edge of the bed and on his knees on the floor, not forming full sentences, just that he couldn't handle it and that he couldn't breathe..... at one point he said he didnt love me bc he doesnt love himself....this went on for about 10 LOOOOONG minutes...until i finally got him to sit up and talk to me.... with tears in both our eyes I tried to get him to come around... he started apologizing and saying he just cracked and that he is truly in love with me (he also said he was dreaming)..... . We r currenty waiting to test to c if I am pregnant and I'm terrified of what a baby would do to us, to him. I don't know what to think about last nights episode, what do i do?!

Okay, this is going to sound a little strange however I put it so here goes...

Basically, some friends and I have recently discovered a thing called reality manipulation, where a being can change their surroundings etc. by force of mind. It includes things like telekenisis, pyrokenisis and weather manipulation. Two of my friends are very good at the latter, to the extent that one can stop and start wind and rain on demand, and when the other experiences extremes of emotion the weather changes and get worse as her tension increases. For example, when she is extremely angry, a storm starts almost instantly and there is always lightning within the first two minutes, and when she cries it ALWAYS rains. She is also strongly telepathic.
For myself, it's more to do with instinct. For example, if I trust my instinct on any event, my wanted outcome always come through. I also have vague moments of clear telepathy and weather control.

I'm trying desperately to help my sister who has just been through a confusing experience with a guy friend. Please tell me what you think of this behaviour to try to make sense of the whole thing:

Over a period of more than one year...this guy did the following

He told her he was falling for her..this was online & he had taken a drink (you could say true feelings can be expressed
after a drink? or you get false courage?)
He called her beautiful sometimes
He contacted her lots
He invited her a few times on trips which she couldnt go on
He told her to hurry up and visit him..he lives in another city

When they met it seemed to go well, they kissed and she didn't sleep with him. he has contacted her since but he is not asking her for another date and she's disappointed. Ok they live in diff. states..so its difficult. They met in school so he knew her anyway in person. Can anyone make sense of this?

I had 3 older brothers who sold drugs who made me do bad things to people that I didn't want to.

I know it was stupid now, and I've left them behind. I still have trouble sleeping though and I just want it to all go away.
