The same thing happened to me when I stopped working and became a Stay At Home Mom.
You have to find something interests you and get involved. Whether it is socializing, volunteering, reading and posting on the internet, or whatever.
Also, you need to remind yourself that you are NOT a human doing but a human being. Your job doesn't define you. Your character does.

In most states colleges for people over 65 are free, I am going back for my BS and Master's in Social Sciences now if you did not want to take that b ig of a leap why don't you take some advanced computer classes, join the local seniors hiking club, re fresh and renew yourself, don't sit back and wait for someone else to amuse you, do it yourself. Your confidence will certainly be renewed once you pass your first test! Good Luck, xx

Unfortunately major life changes such as this do have such an effect but its only as temporary as you allow it to be. Think of all the things you wanted to do but never could because you didn't have the time and energy. Maybe you wanted to learn a new skill? or remodel your house or garden? or help older people less able than yourself? or spend more time perfecting a latent talent? Come on, you know what I am saying is true, start making plans on how you are going to enjoy some of the best years of your life. Believe me there are many people who are highly jealous of you right now.

Volunteer for something you liked doing BEFORE you retired. Take non-credit, enrichment courses at a local community college or adult night school. Or get a part-time job as a WalMart greeter.
