I read an essay on the Internet where somebody wrote "If I was bored it was my fault and no one else's . The obligation to amuse and instruct myself was entirely my own ." . I always figured if I think being single and unattached is boring, it's because I don't have a girlfriend, and I just don't like bars . I decided I need a relationship to sink my teeth into . I figured being without a girlfriend CAN'T be exciting . Am I wrong in thinking being without a girlfriend is boring ? If I'm wrong, how am I wrong ? Why do I think being single is boring ?

You need to get a LIFE. Being single is the opportunity for self growth. Co-dependency is relation nightmare. There is more to life than bars and a girlfriend - travel, play sports, read at a coffee shop, exercise, find hobbies, etc. etc. Turn yourself into someone that someone can love.

There is a very important relationship you can sink your teeth into. The relationship you have with YOU.

If you are boring as a single person, then chances are that you are boring as a boyfriend.

I dont like bars either, but there is a whole lot of world out there that is not in a bar. Art galleries, sporting clubs, archery, golf, art classes, public speaking clubs, dance class. It entirely depends on what interests YOU.

If you are out there LIVING IT, then you are much more likely to meet someone who shares your interests. Make it your goal to be a FACINATING single person and you will be a better partner when a relationship comes along.

Ofcourse the alternative is that you remain bored and you remain single because people who meet you will think that you are a bore.

I have to say your decision behind getting a girlfriend isn't good, most people get into a relationship for many other reasons than to keep themselves amused! However, the quote is a sound one. Yes, I think you do need friends to enjoy your leisure time with so join a club, society or something interesting to you - mix with many people and you will suddenly realise that being single without the responsibilities of another person is anything but boring.

You think that being single is boring because you apparently have never been married.

Kathryn Hepburn said "being marriedl to the wrong man is like being in jail, except you have to fix your own meals".

If you think that you are boring, why would a girl find your interesting? It is not a girlfriend's job to entertain you.

Or perhaps what you really meant to say that being single is lonesome?

Even with a girlfriend, you will need to have, develop and nuture ( or take care of ) your own interests, to live a satisfying life, and so you should start doing this when you are single, and then you will bring something into the relationship...Otherwise it will be boring.

Being single is what you make it to be. You can make it boring by being negative. Or you can look at is at a positive, you aren't tied down and you can do what you want and not have to worry about your partner. No. it's not wrong to think it's boring because that is your opinion.

Being single is not boring. ManCow (a radio talk show host) puts it this way, while you're married it's like having to eat one thing the rest of your life, say spaghetti, everyday, for the rest of your life. When you're single, you can mixed it up any time you please, you have ultimate control of your life and who you want to spend time with. Eating the same thing everyday would be boring to me, not the other way around.
