I'll assume you mean "almost all unmarried people are unhappy," and I'll say that no, that's probably not true, any more than to say that all married people are happy.
It is a matter of what people want, and if a person has no intention of entering a life-long partnership, being unmarried is ideal. There is no way to say that all people want marriage--saying there is a biological "instinct" for monogamy is not a strong enough argument in a world where people take many wives, divorce, become a religious figure with no partner, et cetera.

I have never heard of a study that showed that unmarried people are unhappier. I know some happy unmarried people. I know some unhappy married people. Marriage is not a magic cure for unhappiness. In fact, it can bring about a lot of stress and can lead to unhappiness if two people who aren't really matched for each other.

Well if they're "almost unmarried" as you put it, then they must be getting a divorce, so it stands to reason they'd be unhappy. Although I imagine you just made a typo here and meant "almost all unmarried" in which case you are making a much too wide generalization. Many people are happy being single. Though I must admit I'm much happier now that I'm married to a wonderful guy.

If you aren't happy alone; you won't be happy in a relationship. Too many people make the mistake of thinking marriage will fix their unhappiness within themselves, and marry to avoid being lonely, instead of focusing on becoming the best they should be.

I'm married and I'm happy. I think people in general are always unhappy with something, so I'm sure you will run into many people who would answer your question with a great big YES!

Lonely people are unhappy. You can be quite lonely and still be married -- trust me!
Now I'm neither lonely nor married, and am happy! MOST of the time, which I couldn't say when I was married.

I think you mean 'almost all'. No it's not true. It's how you live your life. It's how you carry yourself. If some are unhappy maybe because they're living a miserable life.
