I'm 18 and at the moment i'm in a very awkward position that mentally thinks i'm unable to talk to people and live ab-normal. In school i had the best looking girlfriends, so i guess i'm not ugly, i currently stay at home and part of the time i usually go on online games and use my headset to talk to people which i think boosts social skills.

Another problem is a letter thats worth £3,000 that i have to get an official witness like a dentist to sign. A simple task like this has an effect that says "oh no interacting with strangers" and go into alert mode. But half of me wants me to go there ask for the guy that has to sign it, post it, wait 2 weeks then i got some cash to help with driving lessons and buy things i really want.

Next week i have my first job seekers meeting that a guy should help me find an ideal job that will start me earning and prove my mum i'm not lazy. (she doesnt understand my social issues)

<> Now i know my problem Social Anxiety Disorder is definately the source.

i read that people use drugs and alchahol to cure this, I had a drink in ym home the other day and i felt good but i dont want this to be my aid.

Prescribed medications includes two classes of antidepressants: selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) So i guess i have to obtain these somehow by buying or on prescription.

I now feel slightly happier knowing theres a cure and already i feel better.

If you have this problem dont use alchahol but explain this disorder to your doctor and i'm sure he can help. thankyou guys for helping me i really do appreciate this, i will attempt to overcome this personally but if not i'll seek medical advice.

add my msn if you have this problem or just simply wish to support and generally talk to me :)

Your problem is very common and it is curable. You are very young and can easily get rid of it. Speaking from personal experience.
1st, you need to join your local health club, do some work-outs and group exercises, such as yoga, aerobics or anything similar. This will get rid of your laziness and will pump blood in to your brain and make you aware and alert. Cardiovascular exercises will do magic on your young body.

2nd, change your diet; stop junk food, chocolates, sugary food and drinks, oily food and alcohol.
Eat more vegetable and fruits, nuts (without salt), white fish, hard cheese, lean steak and cereals.
3rd, Speak to your GP about your problem, they will recommend or prescribe you medication to improve your mental health. Mean time you can take vitamin supplements and St. John's Wart.
Good luck and I wish you all the best. I hope you get the job at Toyota.

Taking a little from the Samurai way of thinking. Go over in your mind every possible scenario that could happen. Make a plan if that happens. That way you know that you have already thought out a plan for any situation.
Most fears like this come from not knowing what you will do if something does not go according to "script". It is a fear that you will not be able to think on your feet well.

I feel this way sometimes too, im realy shy and under confident, however i have fooled myself and others into thinking im not, i just do it, it is so simple , yet it works , whatever you fear just face up to it and you will astound yourself at what you achieve, if you start off with simple interactions it becomes easier and easier, also when you do need to speak with someone new or whatever just think they might be feeling the same way too for all you know.
Im sorry if my advice is rubbish but you realy have to force yourself to just get out and about , enrol in college and i promise it will change your whole outlook on life and your confidence levels, also remember you are still young so you will not feel this way forever , goodluck.

Hi! I don't think what you here is a "social" issue.
I think you are clinically depressed... I am, and you just described it fairly perfectly...
The "off" switch is the tip-off. You know what you want/need to do; but your mind stops you. Cold. SEE somebody! Don't fool with this!
I waited YEARS, thinking it was a simple problem, and that I was just lazy, and a procrastanator. Nope.
They have all kinds of help available. (Mine is a chemical imbalance; turns out I've probably had it since I was born...
Good luck. NOW GO! }:>

It sounds to me like you are suffering from social anxiety disorder (SAD). You need to seek professional help from a psychiatrist in order to turn your life around.

Ask yourself, what ARE you afraid of? Also, ask yourself, what is the worst thing that can happen with this letter? For $6000, I'd be willing to go there naked to get a signature.
