Do you think the main reason why people have social phobia, is from bad experiences??

I had to prove everyone wrong. Many people thought that because I'm mentally disabled, that I'd never make it through high school. I made it with Honors, I know how to drive, & I got a Bachelor's degree. My former foster mom said that my disability won't allow me to keep a job. I took a Wellness class, & I learned that many people with mental illnesses can lead successful, productive lives. I proved everyone wrong on a lot of things, & I also dealt with disability discrimination on the job & got fired when my supervisor saw my symptoms kicking in.

Since cultural development such as medicine and hygeine results in genetic diseases not being eliminated from gene pool. one of the proposed answer to this is eugenics. eg genetic counseling, genetic engineering, germinal selection (like a sperm bank), or cloning. whats your opinion on this issue?

I found out some very hurtul things my ex said about me to the girl he was trying to get to know. The thing is, when we were together, I did nothing to him but help him, we always had respect for each other, and never really faught. I helped him thru so much. He cared about me and showed it when we were together. But I found out he told this girl he was never really attracted to me and that he never really loved me. When I confronted him he said it wasn't true. I know when we were together the attraction was there, and I feel I am physically attractive, he knows this. I found out from this other girl, the one he was seeing. But if she is lying why would he stay with her? He did for a few months and it ended. If he did say this why? To make her feel better?? Either way, can someone comment who can relate?? Guys??

I keep reading that lack of eye contact means someone is hiding something, is nervous, or dishonest. Where I come from, eye contact is aggressive and signals dominance. Stare a dog you don't know in the eye and it'll either cower or bite you. Stare a horse in the eye, it'll run or fight. Same with a cow. I only stare someone in the eye when I am seeking to dominate them. How do I do "urban human acceptable" eye contact? How long is needed and what body posture should I use? I have to make an urban business trip that needs to succeed..

I don't know if this is the proper section to ask this question but I'll ask it here because I expect a better answer. Here's the scenario:

My estranged wife and I met a couple of weeks complete tax forms for the past couple of years. We met in a public place where we both have numerous acquaintances. I'll describe her body language and actions.

After she found me outside smoking and we went through a cursory greeting, she walked quickly ahead of me. I went to the table were I left my brief case. Instead of sitting down with me, she walked around and greeted a few people on the other side of the room. Finally, she came towards the table. She did not sit down with me. Barely made eye contact, and was more animated than usual i.e. pacing quickly about, speaking quicker than usual. When she did look at me she had a slight scowl on her face (scowl or frown).

I don't know if that's enough info. to make a reasonable interpretation. I have my thoughts. Just checking yours.

I was just thinking of the future of me and my boyfriend, when I realized that I am very scared to have his kids. Mental disorders. I have a strange type of ADD but I still live like a normal person. But my boyfriends brother is a diagnosed psychopath, or sociopath. It is one or the other. I can’t quite remember. He lives in a good family, my boyfriend is a good sane man. But his brother causes them hell. He is a bazaar , and dangerous mess. Is there any chance that our kids could be born a psychopath, or sociopath? Or is it not inherited, but developed?

When I am by myself, I usually feel I am as good as everybody else but when I'm around people(especially people I don't know) I feel intimidated. I know I am a good person I have good qualities and talents, but when I'm around other people I have a deep feeling that I'm not good enough for anyone.

Do you think if someone did research on all the people using Yahoo Answers they would find something particular to us that distinguishes us from other people who dont use it. After all, we didnt just wake up one day and say Yahoo Answers is fun and cool. There must be some psychology or philosophy to it. Or maybe we have some type of personality traits that are very common among us. What do you think?

Do we forgive when there is no repentance? What signifies repentance? When there is no repentance, do we rebuke the offender? Just curious about all this as it really applies to my life lately. Thanks.
