i am an international student studying in america. i found it a little bit hard to make friends with local people... most of the people here like funny people, but i'm not the kind of person who likes joking a lot. i was quite annoied, or say depressed by not having many american friends.

can anyone tell me what american young adults usually think when making friends with international peers?

thank you all a lot! ^o^

Why so scared of commitment guys? Most men seem to date somebody for ages and then dump her in his forties to marry a girl half their age... ??

Stability results were very low which suggests you are extremely worrying, insecure, emotional, and anxious.

Orderliness results were low which suggests you are overly flexible, improvised, and fun seeking at the expense too often of reliability, work ethic, and long term accomplishment.

Extraversion results were low which suggests you are very reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and secretive.

trait snapshot:

messy, depressed, introverted, feels invisible, does not make friends easily, nihilistic, reveals little about self, fragile, dark, bizarre, feels undesirable, dislikes leadership, reclusive, weird, irritable, frequently second guesses self, unassertive, unsympathetic, low self control, observer, worrying, phobic, suspicious, unproductive, avoidant, negative, bad at saving money, emotionally sensitive, does not like to stand out, dislikes large parties, submissive, daydreamer

So how do I become a better person with traits like that?

talk you through, explain and commentate a programme or film to you when it's a) blatently obvious what is happening in the programme and you're more than capable of following it without help or
b) you're not interested

Know anyone like that?

suppose somebody has wronged you or hurt you and these guys are your superiors so you can't do anything about it. how do you deal with feelings of hate, i don't like using that word but I really have no respect for people who take it out on the weak. thanks.

(mostly i'm talkin about unprofessional behavior; wheter it be teacher-student, you name it)

by the way, i'm not from the states. here professors have all the power. i know they get fired in the states if they make one wrong move.

i don't mind them talking behind my back but i don't want them in my life. thanks.

one more thing. if you have such nasty people at work where they could be a threat to your "existence" what do you do. you want to keep them at a distance but they'll just keep pushing just to be mean.

My sister told me she is going to kick me in the nuts when I am not expecting it, and laughed. I think she is not kidding because she and most of her friends do it to boys in school.
It was not easy, but I told my mother about her threat but she told me that “girls don’t do that” and “grow up and be a man”, and she does not want to hear about it anymore!
That happened to a friend of mine in school, and now he became very withdrawn and never mixed or went out again, he was a very happy outward going guy; I think after that he stopped talking to girls. He feels sexually abused, violated and humiliated; he is emotionally damaged!
I can not be alert all the time, what can I do?!!!

My 18 year old diabetic cat had to be put to sleep a week ago and I'm not telling anyone BECAUSE in the last month of his decline my friends and family have tried to help and cheer me up with...
*It's his time*He had a good life*He'll go to a better place*It's not your fault*Lots of talk of animal heaven and the rainbow bridge..
My human friend is also dying of liver cancer and I'm dreading the peptalks to come. Having never yet(knock on wood) dealt with the death of a close friend, family member, long-term pet(until a week ago) I'm curious..2 questions.
1. What is the worst thing, even trying to be helpful, that someone can say to a greiving person?
2. Not that's it's ever easy, but is death easier to accept after a long illness, because their suffering is over and you had a chance to begin to expect and accept it but you are left with the memory of their pain? Or is a quick and sudden death easier for the people left behind, because their memories are mostly happy?

Have you ever been standing in the shower and suddenly asked yourself "Did I just shampoo my hair or not?". And for the life of you, you can't remember. Wait--that's not the weird part. What is weird is that I'm unaware of such a phenomenon ocurring in any other circumstance. Are you? I can't imagine going to the kitchen, having a drink of water and after going back to what you were doing asking yourself "Did I just have a drink of water?". It just doesn't happen. Has anyone ever studied this? Do they remember having studied it? :)
