If the normal human response to most insults is to respond with disproportionate force, is it best to refrain from decision-making until such a time that objective evaluation of facts underlying the contention is possible?

ref: http://www.althouse.blogspot.com/2006/07/eye-for-eye-is-subjective-game.html?fta=y

(couldn't find a link to the op-ed piece)

In other words, is it best to take a deep breath, find something else to occupy your mind, and make every effort not to over-correct during resolution of the problem?

In many places around the world, people seem to feel that immediate and drastic measures are appropriate and acceptable responses to normally occuring events, e.g. natural disasters, tragedies within armed conflicts, etc.

Isn't it amazing that REAL people are nice and polite but when you get these upper-middle class gits who hate you in the first place, they sneer at you just because you don't know one little bit of etiquette. So, when it boils down to it, they're using the epitome of 'politeness' as an excuse for just being plain rude and obnoxious!

Please share. I think I answer mostly about spirituality and sex, then philosophy and pregnancy. Guess I'm a hormonally charged intellect! I also answer a lot of questions like "Please help!!!???" and "Can you help me....?" I'm a sucker for a perilled person, I suppose. How about you?!

If.......... we were really one consiousness,in a dream state, viewing ourselves objectively as individuals, would that not make all religion, Government, media and War a kind of self harm?
Would that not make any institution meerly a distraction from any true goal or learning, with only one possible out come which would be to make us see ourselves in a false and individual light?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm................

she believes her friend over you ( her own mother!),and now your relationship is strained. I tried to explain my side, that what she heard wasn't what I said, and now she is curt, almost to the point of being rude. Money has been tight,as hubby just started a new job after being out of work for almost two months. She has a new laptop, (her birthday gift because she wanted one) nice clothes, and food, and she sounds ungrateful. Hubby says he will not put his two cent's worth in,as it is a " woman's thing," so he is no help. She is worried about her permit, ( she has failed it three times) and we used to be very close, till this incident. It was a stranger who didn't know her,and she transferred schools, and this girl, whom I spoke to,told her I said something, and she twisted it totally. My daughter believes this girl, over me. I told my daughter what I said, and this girl even told she agreed with me. help! Should i punish her? i am tired of arguing with her and being pushed aside in her life.

This "I" that say about my knowledge, my title, my position,my achievements, my power, my family,my acquisitions, my good deeds.....this "I" that identifies. This "I" that say "me","mine","we","us", "ours". This "I" that is afraid, angry, jealous, and most of all lonely.
WHAT is this "I". Not WHO is this "I".
