My girlfriend is getting all teary eyed watching Steve Irwin's memorial service on tv. She always hated the guy on tv when he was alive. But now she wants to watch the memorial and feel sad about it. Why do people enjoy getting emotionally sucked into things that really have nothing to do with them?

Can humans unlearn?

In Artificial Intelligence, if you create a genetic algorithm (which is an algorithm that learns through progressive evolution) to guide an imaginary person from point A to point B through a maze, the algorithm will most times learn a successful path. Nevertheless, there are times when the algorithm will fail to evolve properly, and the artificial person will get stuck in some corner. To correct this, you need to role back the algorithm a certain number of steps. Using this as an analogy, in many ways we as individuals learn through trial and error, progressing through life with an evolving perspective on our environment in turn leading us from point A to point B. But what happens when we get stuck.. ? Is there a way to unlearn either at a physical level (neural) or at a cognitive level?

I am so tired of people begging me to smile. Just because I don't smile it doesn't necessarily mean that I am in a sad or bad mood. That is my natural deameanor. I wish people would shut the F*** up and stop telling me to smile. People should mind their own business. What should I do next time if I am told to smile? GO F YOURSELFS YOU SMILEY DOOFUSES!

I get freaked out and can't really look at a balloon when someone lets one go because as it goes far...it gets kind of weird for me.

Is this normal or anyone know anything about this?

My sister has beed sooooo nasty to me all my life. She is 18, and I am 16. This is not usual sibling fighting. Just before she was at the sink, washing her hands, and I was waiting behind her. She unknowingly stepped back into me, and stepped on my foot. No harm to her, and her fault. I appologised, and she starts screaming at the top of her lungs about how I am ruining her like, and what a little a$$hole I am, etc. This nice of her compared to usual. I just don't get it. I put up with this all my life, even as a small child. She is most hateful to me after I do something nice for her. I could go on, but this is the basics. I was looing for some opinions. I just made this box, and don't even remember the password, so I will not be able to give details.

OH, and she is nasty to many people. I hate being in public with her, because if someone even looks at her she starts screaming and namecalling. Most people look at me like I am white trash just for being with her when she starts.

Okay so I've come to terms with the fact that I have a complex (see previous question asked for details) and that it wouldn't be a half-bad idea to seek some counceling. Problem is that I'm not sure what kind of doctor/therapist/councelor I should be seeking out for medical help. My friend, who is a psychology major at the same college I go to, suggested that I see a psychotherapist. My mother, on the other hand, has suggested that any doctor along these lines could help. So what kind of help exactly should I seek? I'm not really too informed on the whole psychotherapist thing and when I looked it up, it just made me more confused. This kind of seems over the top to me and even a bit much, know what I mean? So am I just being paranoid?? Also, I'm already on meds for other things so I'm looking for a strictly non-pharmacutical treatment...is this the type of pychological help I should be looking for??

HAPPENED THIS SUNDAY:

Mark calls me up; 'Get a bite & chill?' Bored stiff myself I reply 'Let's go'. We stroll...1 1/2 hr passes & the scene was dead. I make a call then we leave back to Mark's so he could change. Drew [his rm8] was there so I invited him. We all caught a cab to anothr bar where about 6 frnds were now waitin for us.

After 4 or 5 rounds, countless stupid jokes & corny singin' we agreed to catch a cab. I hung out for there abt 30 mins then strolled home.

Mark's sis calls Monday morn 'He was arrested, no one knows what hapn'd.' So I call Drew & he tells me 'He strangled me almost to death, totally fu*ckd up the apt & went after the security guard with a knife.'

Thru it, he smiled weirdly-as both Drew & the officers claimed.

Mark is laid back & always got along w/ everyone. I can't ask him anything cause they're holdin him for a traffic vio. as well. Did he snap? Would it still have hpnd'd if I stayed longer? Should I go to court & testify?

I have a severe anxiety disorder and today is my 40th birthday. My family and friends, knowing I have a difficult time leaving the house and being around people, have a planned some sort of event outside my home. I don't want to let them down but, dang, I don't want to go either. What would you do?
