There have been no long term studies done on children. This drug has some really nasty side effects. Read up on some interesting questions and answers from this web site: http://www.monheit.com/risperdal/faq.asp

Hope this helps,
Pattie

as a former patient on Risperdal it is semi fatal to children but there are also other things it can cause if not properly monitored by a physician..

1.) if the child is a diabetic it can drasticly lead to high blood sugar

2.) if the child does not recieve yearly blood tests to check liver enzyme levels it can also lead to a form of sclerosis not caused by alcohol abuse and that almost is what happened to me after being put on it for years without proper medical care followup

Any medication when used the wrong way can be dangerous. For those in need, Risperidal can really have many benifits. Be sure to follow the advice from your Dr.

I know that it causes a dramatic increase in weight in a short amount of time. That in itself can be dangerous. From what I've seen, it's also changed people's personality for the worse.
