The essential reason is that there is always a loneliness deep within each person and when ones attention is not required outside of oneself,it is felt. This loneliness is non-specific, and once experienced, ones MIND quickly begins sending possible reasons for it to ones brain... but, if one is honest, none of these hit the mark.
This loneliness is a built-in homesickness, placed within ones Apapsyche [consciousness] by God, as a reminder that this plane is not ones Home.

i know i feel lonely when i dont feel a connection with a person or a group.
sometimes my husband is right there with me and i just feel like he doesnt "get" me, so I'll start to feel lonely.
but that's just me.

Maybe they feel they are not part of a group, community, etc. People all around but, no sense of belonging.

if tey aren't they aren't
they have so many people around them but they keep on thinking how lonely they feel
