If so why?

I know some of you are thinking what does parenting have to do with anything here but a lot of the same issues such can come up such as working women and abortion.

For those of you who don't know what that is it is a doctrine that was abolished because it was sexist against men regarding child custody.
On the issue of Gender Biasedness in family law they claim it is agaisnt the mom. There is a reason that the majority of moms have primary custody and dads have every other weekend and that is because it is the exact opposite of what NOW claims.
NOW also says: 'Despite the perception that mothers always win custody cases, studies show that fathers who contest custody win sole or joint custody in 40 to 70 percent of cases.'
I thought that the majority of cases were settled without court ruling, so this small percentage of cases in which dad contests and win 50/50 or full custody must have been contested for a good reason. Maybe mom is a psycho. I guess NOW will not be satified until the Tender Years Doctrine is placed back in effect which give mom full custody 100% ofthe time.

Rebel F and Gnu Sense and many others have effectively drawn a line between "true" feminism (generally those who believe that feminism is or should be about genuine equality between the sexes) and "fake" feminism (which is a cult which encourages misandry - i.e. man-hate - and which preaches female supremacy).

So how do the feminista - the top feminist leaders, the people who control NOW and the women's studies movement - figure in this. And, if you are a woman, how would you best describe yourself -
(a) a true feminist
(b) so-called 'fake' feminist
(c) non-feminist

Worldwide Abortions Fall by Four Million per the Guttmacher Institute: The study found that an estimated 20 million unsafe abortions occurred in 2003, 97% of these in developing regions. Developed regions, where almost all countries allow abortions with few restrictions, had an average unsafe abortion rate of two per 1,000. The consequences of unsafe abortion-death, serious injury, infertility and increased health care cost are largely borne by poor women. The report concludes that reducing the incidence of unsafe abortion would result in an immediate and substantial reduction of maternal mortality and improve maternal health. The widespread unmet need for contraception must be addressed if we are to see further decline in abortion rates, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, where contraceptive use is low.

Why does the right-wing & our government support measures that limit access to birth control & abortion, in our country and world-wide? http://us.oneworld.net/article/view/153922/1/

A recent question claimed that the Jena Six showed the need for feminism.

And apparently the absurdity of this claim escapes her and others.

It would be equally ridiculous to use the erosion of abortion rights in many regions as a basis for donating to the NAACP.

That's not to say that there's not a lot of overlap between the causes, that there can't be cooperation, or that similar principles aren't behind shared, but if you're primarily concerned about abortion rights, donate to NARAL or NOW, not the NAACP.

Similarly, events in Louisiana suggest the continuing need for groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the NAACP.

I think it is important that the masculinist and Men's movement get more attention and reconigtion. We should also work harder so our voice can be heard.

So gentlemen, what can we do to make the masculinist and Men's movement more well known?

This happened to me with both co-workers and schoolmates. She and I are flirting and playing around for a while until one day she says "Oh, my boyfriend/husband bla bla bla..."

Don't they realize how much pain they cause the guy? I could have spent my time and efforts wooing some girl who was actually available, dammit.

This from the New York Times:

There appears to be a growing happiness gap between men and women.

Two new research papers, using very different methods, have both come to this conclusion. They have looked at the traditional happiness data, in which people are simply asked how satisfied they are with their overall lives. In the early 1970s, women reported being slightly happier than men. Today, the two have switched places.

Any ideas on what' going on?

U.S. scientists have found women who are offered implantable heart monitors following cardiac arrest are less likely than men to agree to use them. Duke University Medical Center researchers studied the records of more than 236,000 Medicare patients from 1999-2005 and found that when implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, or ICDs, were prescribed, men were two to three times more likely than women to use them.

Overall, more women than men die of heart disease in the United States each year. Nonetheless, women only receive 33% of angioplasties, stents and bypass surgeries; 36% of open-heart surgeries; and comprise only 25% of participants in heart-related studies, according to the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease. http://www.womenheart.org/information/women_and_heart_disease_fact

Someone posted a question remarking on the high IQ's (or purported high IQ's) of most of the people in this Forum.

Does that mean that people with high IQ’s like to go to Forums like this to have a place to discuss intelligent issues of the day? I’m not saying all of our subjects (or our posters) are intellectual, but most intellectuals tend to want to discuss the issues of the day with other people who have something intelligent to say, even if it is the opposing viewpoint.

What do you think? Nothing else would be different.. Only men would not care about sex as much as women.

I'm not saying men would start caring more about other things like intimacy, romance or feelings than now... JUST less about sex.

in the West and our focus should shift to the less developed countries where honor killings, lack of education, hunger, rape etc. are parts of the every-day life? Do we care about worldwide equality for all women from a humanitarian perspective, or humanitarian efforts in our own backyard is enough?

What does feminism have to do with the environment? Survival of our species may depend on greater understanding between men and women. Eco-feminists seek a more balanced relationship between humankind and the Earth. Is it time for some further change or do we look temporarily in amazement then return to what we were doing without much thought?

Eco-feminism looks at attitudes and worldviews that differ based on male and female perceptions of life. Whether gender difference is biological or social is in hot debate. But it seems our most effective influence will be in the social sphere. Our ability to homogenize those perspectives may result in better environmental policies.

The report, based on the work of some 2,500 scientists in more than 130 countries, concluded that humans have caused all or most of the current planetary warming. Human-caused global warming is often called anthropogenic climate change" This was from a 2007 National Geographic report.
Does anyone else find it strange that there are people that still deny their is an issue with humanity destroying the earth?
What can we do as individuals to help?
