It used to make me mad but then the kind of men the mail order brides get is not what most western women would want so I guess they can go for it. They should not put up with oppression from their men because that is bad for the community. Did you hear about the middle eastern family in the states that kept a Arab girl in their house as a slave?

I think they are smart to do so. Aside from the financial advantages which are obvious (assuming we're talking about women coming from countries poorer than the US especially), I've always found American men to be a pretty desirable lot. It's not surprising that others feel the same.

If their marriage is based on equality and mutual respect, I have no issue with it. If it is a mail-order bride, that is another story but there are stories about Russian women using American men to get to America and then to get their money and houses.

They're looking for a way to escape their impoverished lives in their home countries and to be honest, I probably would do the same thing if I were in their situation.
