I mean, I'm single and I have no desire to be with anyone right now. But people are always telling me things like, "oh don't play all those video games, men don't like it" or "do this, it'll drive the men crazy". When I meet a guy, I think of what kind of friend he'll be, not what kind of boyfriend. But when I'm out they'll try to find out if I'm single. If I tell them yes, then they'll assume that I'm looking. If I wear a tanktop or a skirt or whatever, they'll think I'm dressing for them when maybe it's just hot outside.
I know how conceited that sounds, but it's the truth and I hate it! Why do certain people seem to think that EVERYTHING is about getting a man? It'd be nice to have a boyfriend someday but it's the last thing on my mind. It's so animalistic to me.

To all homemakers. You are at home most of the day. Do you ever drop into your neighbours house and share a cup tea or coffee with fellow homemakers? Or do you rarely even know your neighbours?

I think it's better to be a male because;
-no uterus, no menses so no fuss no PMS no need to buy pads
-no breast so no need to buy bras & no risk of breast cancer
-as a muslim no need to wear or buy hijab
-as a muslim male have the right on divorce & wives have to obey husband
-as a muslim, males get more inheritance
-no need to worry so much about my appearance
-males have more muscle mass so I can be stronger
-don't have to be miserably pregnant & go through the painful labour

When i was 22 (and unmarried), I met a married woman at a bar/ club. She was older, but still relatively attractive and our personalities just clicked. she was out with her friends. seemed to be happy enough about her life, and wasn't outto pick up a guy - she was taken aback by the whole thing.

It turned into a romp in the back seat of her truck.

So now my wife, 43, and a 7 out of 10 for her age, goes out with her freinds dancing once a month, more or less. They have a real blast. She’s come home tipsy. At least one of her freinds, I know, has a small reputation for fluziness. I come to learn she carries a rubber in her purse. i ask why . . . she said she and her freidns agreed they'd all always carry one because of a scare that happened to a mutual freind. its not to use, she assured, it 'just in case'

just in case of what?

i think about it - we’ve been married 17 years and we are very stable, but we don't have a whole lot of sex anymore. i highly highly doubt she'd ever leave me -she’s not going to throw it all away - but could she have gotten boinked or be open to the possibility?

and if so should i get mad? On the one hand, I think what goes around comes around. More importantly, crazy as it sounds, I feel like good for her . . . don't she deserve some?

So, 1) help me assess the liklihood she is, 2) she I stick with the progressive attitude or shift back to a more traditional approach?

Some ladies at our church are planning a spring luncheon and the entertainment they are planning is for people to bring quilts and have their quilts' stories told and let the women walk around and look at the quilts.

Also, how much would you be willing to pay for this luncheon?

$15? $20?

Thanks for your help!

He introduces the character of Sophie, and explains how her education differs from Emile’s. Hers is not as focused on theoretical matters, as men’s minds are more suited to that type of thinking. Rousseau’s view on the nature of the relationship between men and women is rooted in the notion that men are stronger and therefore more independent. They depend on women only because they desire them. By contrast, women both need and desire men. Sophie is educated in such a way that she will fill what Rousseau takes to be her natural role as a wife. She is to be submissive to Emile. And although Rousseau advocates these very specific gender roles, it would be a mistake to take the view that Rousseau regards men as simply superior to women. Women have particular talents that men do not; Rousseau says that women are cleverer than men, and that they excel more in matters of practical reason.

A woman does not want the truth; what is truth to women? From the beginning, nothing has been more alien, repugnant, and hostile to woman than the truth - her great art is the lie, her highest concern is mere appearance and beauty.

I have a follow up question about your answer to my last question http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlJJ9IEya05.bsjcwYzlf_rAFQx.?qid=20070318172347AA2Q3OZ , but you don't allow emails. Of course, I welcome anyone else's insights as well.

"equality is great, but tryannical women who try to make women out to be better then men is wrong. they are without a doubt different, but the differences are neccessery and equal in value. feminists deny there is such thing as gender and try to act as men themselves."

Alright, I can agree that there are differences in gender, and that none of those differences makes anyone less. Even that there is value in some of those differences.

My question is in your very last comment. In what way do feminists offend you by acting like men? How exactly does a man act, that should not be copied by a woman?

Thanks, if you choose to answer!

I need to write a report for my english class. It can be a modern woman, or someone historical. I'd especially be interested in women who influenced the film and television industries. Thanks!

I've only just recently stumbled into this area and was dismayed and a little surprised to see how much hostility there is from some of the men and Christians/Muslims here. It's so very similiar to the hostility between the monotheists and...well, anyone who's not a monotheist.

I'd wonder why there were so many men in here to begin with, but I imagine you'd all find that as annoying as we do in the Religion & Spirituality Section when some newb asks why the atheists are there.

What I don't understand is why there should be so much hostility towards women who are on a path to seeking equality between the genders.

How could anyone consider this a bad thing?
