To all homemakers. You are at home most of the day. Do you ever drop into your neighbours house and share a cup tea or coffee with fellow homemakers? Or do you rarely even know your neighbours?

I do know my neighbours but I don't sit around their houses drinking coffee or anything like that...my next door neighbour & I are very close....she knows I'm here for her & I know she's here for me & we sometimes share a morning with each other, but I don't really like to hang around others homes chatting about crap.....people get to know too much about you that way.....then they never get their bloody nose out of your business.....after they've told it to everyone else of course.
Sorry Honey, bit cynical really aren't I?

Short answer - No. Most of my neighbors are in a different stage of life.

I am a SAHM of 3. I am only home for a few hours each day, thes rest of the time I go to the gym (that is my social time), run errands, taxi my children (and sometimes their friends) to and from activites.

When my children were toddlers, we had play groups. The play group moms would sit down with a cup of tea and chat while the children played. Of course, every few minutes one of the parents would have to attend to a child.

My husband works as a certified mechanic and licensed smog technician, and we also own a medical transcription business, which I run from home. Most of my neighbors work during the day, but I do have about 6 former co-workers from when I worked outside the home, and we still try and get together every once in awhile to have lunch.

I'm currently a student, but I'm home a good chunk of the day. No, because I can so easily see than turning into a neighborhood soap opera. I treat neighbors like I used to treat the men in the workplace when I was single - polite but no date. If you fight with your next door neighbor it can make things miserable.

when I had kids at home once in awhile yes. I lived in a neighbourhood where everyone knew each other because our kids played together.

We belonged to a play group in another part of town but most of the socializing was at home. Just as often it was my place people came because "the kid tree" was on our property. You know, the tree that never got birds in it because the kids climbed it too much?

Most of my neighbors work during the day. I have joined a moms group and that's where most of my friends come from these days. We have more scheduled time together or we might do an impromptu email saying: I'm going to the park, come join us.

I actually don't leave the house much since I had my baby. Everyone in my apartment building smokes, and I can't be near it.

I live in the united states....I really want to get involved with friends again....I think I am permanently in my cocooning stage....I just got married 4 years ago.

To be honest I don't even know my neighbors.

But I do have some friends in the next county...sometimes I'll take my son and go visit.
