Because I really believe that I might be...

2007-07-01 08:10:28 · 5 answers · asked by Sarah 4 in Psychology

Why does it seem like I'm the only person in the world who doesn't think human beings are ultimately destined to destroy themselves and the earth along with them? On the contrary, I like to believe that the future holds things of such magnificence that those of us who are alive today cannot even begin to comprehend it, because we are still in the slow and often painful process of growing. I think human beings are not only capable of one day reaching the true pinnacle of evolution, but I think it's very likely that they will do so.

Yet whenever the topic of the future of humanity comes up, it's always the so-called optimists of this world who insist that we are doomed to nuclear holocaust, or pollution-driven mass extinction. I don't claim to have an optimistic outlook in every aspect of my life, but when it comes to the really big question, I just might be the only real optimist on the planet!

I just have too much energy at night, things that can bore me during the day stimulate me at night. Such as talking, watching tv, listening to music etc. It's a great mystery to me, night time is supposed to be for sleeping but I dont want to sleep, day time is for being awake but I just want to sleep.

Whenever I'm sitting in class, and I try to pay UTMOST attention to the teacher, and I write down everything he/she says, and then the teacher asks us to do some questions later, I have like, no idea what to do to answer the questions, or solve the problems. But I'm paying attention! What's wrong with me? Everybody else who are like, drawing in class and who don't seem to be paying attention are able to understand the teacher very clearly, and are able to solve the problems easily. And it's not like, ONE person... it's EVERYONE in the class. What's wrong with me??? Do I have a learning disability? I hope not!!! That's just plain scary!!!!

What is the purpose?

These three identify whether we have never been married, married, or previously married/NA. Men on the other hand, have “Mr.” It does not identify HIS marital status.

I don’t mind the last name change. I think that’s enough to link us to being married. But why do we also have to also identify ourselves as a Mrs.? The man doesn’t change a thing. He is still “Mr. Doe”, before he married and the same after he marries. “Mrs.” is an abbreviation of “Mr’s.”, ‘showing possession to Mr.’ I think it’s just as acceptable in addressing them Mr. & Ms. Doe. I think “Ms.” Is a great compromise. It comes across as equal to “Mr.”

You’re not denying that you are married (or not). We can be addressed equally without any personal connotation if we are involved with or without a spouse.

WHY do we have to labeled as such; or WHAT is the reason for having the 3 titles; OR tell me why we should or shouldn’t continue the usage of “Miss” or “Mrs.” Men: I’d be interested to know what you guys also think.

I used to like a guy that said he was moody/depressed/low self-esteeem as long as he can remember. Do you think someone can be born with this condition? Maybe those kids are more susceptible to the events of the environment so they can get affected for example by parents with issues like alcoholism and issues like that and their siblings who are not that sensitive do not react to that? Do you think these kids are usually smarter or more intelligent on some level just because they see/feel what is happening around them and are different than other kids?

Women make all kinds of generalizations and insulting remarks toward men and most of us keep our cool. So why is it that any time you make a generalization about women (which has some truth like most generalizations) they go crazy with anger? Why can't women take criticism? You women are FAR from perfect so why are you so defensive?

Part of equality is being able to roll with the punches ladies :)

Earlier this year I got faced with living on my own and without a partner for the first time in my life (I am 27). I do not take it as loneliness, it is a gift because I have issues from the past I need to solve and learn how to live with in order to be able to lead a happy life and then get into a reelationship with someoen who will be worth my love. In any event, I am spending a part of my summer vacation with my parents back home and I am facing some painful days but also knowing i am exactly where I need to be. Ive realized that I have big issues with my parents. My father is extremely dominant but a good person and that contrast used to confuse me as a kid because I thought that his behaviour is justified just because he has a good and honest heart. My mother is a person born to be a pleaser and I am so disguisted at her because she is also a good hearted woman and she could ve been well educated, but she decided that she wasn t worth anything and she ended up ...

I want to hear from women and men who have experience with women. My wife seems to be taking longer and longer to get ready to do things, including going to work, going out (for any reason), and even going to bed. In my possibly uninformed opinion, it is pathological. So I am asking to see if ALL women just take a ridiculously long time to get ready to go somewhere, including bed, or if my wife has a problem that needs to be addressed.

I have stretches of time where I don't want to be around people, and other times when I'm really gregarious. It kind of makes me feel guilty and defective when I'm in an antisocial mood, kind of like I should go out and be around people, because it's expected of me. I was a teacher for 8 years, and thought that the agoraphobia would go away with more social contact. By the end of the week I would feel totally comfortable, only to feel absolutely freaked out on Monday mornings. Any suggestions?

My son is turning 18 soon and has recently begun dating. However his first girlfriend has very small breasts, probably an A-cup. Now god bless his heart, he loves her ever so much, but I'd like to set a firm precedent to avoid future heartbreak.

I wouldn't want him to be ridiculed by his friends and classmates for 'going out with a flatty' as I would have been back in my younger years. Unendowed females are also generally emotionally unstable due to low self-esteem (I don't want a teenage drama queen on my son's hands!)

My biggest worry is that many years down the line, their female children would be 'flat chicks' as well. I'd like my son to be a spittin' image of his old man, and to help him avoid some obvious mistakes.

Should I forbid him from dating her or let him figure it out for himself over time?

for a day, i didnt relaise what to do about a problem, i was really confused but then i realised that when my bf gets upset, i am to cheer him up and then ask whats wrong. i didnt. the next day i realised that and i feel so stupid and dumb and so bad for it.
He doesnt still want to talk about the problem, just tells me to drop it, normally we would sort problems out, but its different with this one. he just doesnt want to know about it and forget about it. i dont really want to do this as i cant move foreward with a problem unsolved.

I dont know how to treat this. he doesnt want to talk about it, if i do, he gets annoyed and really upset, and just expects me to just forget about it. later i would want to talk about it so its sorted, right now, im actin as if im ok, when im really not so i wont upset him. i feel depressed but im ignoring how i feel.
I just want things to be and feel ok, for the both of us.
What do i do know? How can get him to talk to me? Hes sensitive n easily annoyed
