Last night I had a strange dream...I was teaching a reading class at a middle school. It was the first day of school, and I find out that I will be team teaching with a man who mentored me in college. We are getting ready for the first day, and everything's great. All of a sudden it's the first day of school, the bell rings, and students start filing in and finding their seats. I notice one child is a student I taught when she was in kindergarten. Now, she is a middle-schooler, but instead of being a human, she is a coyote. She refuses to sit down, runs around the room constantly, and she even jumps on desks. I'm all frantic, and everything is chaotic. We try to have a snack (I realize middle-schoolers don't get snack-time...lol!), but the coyote, my student, has devoured everyone's snacks. Then I woke up...What does this mean??

Share the lessons you've learned, what you have lossed. What you have found that you've always had, but didn't know that you did. I'm still trying to get somewhere, I think hearing about others journeys could help, thanks!

i have this problem. im scared that if i look too long at them they will think im staring at them(or intimidating). and if i dont look enough they would think im not interested or not listening to them(or angry with them).
i always think about this when talkin to someone and usually end up looking at them at awkward moments..sometimes staring or sometimes not looking at all. and they get the wrong impression of me!!
it doesnt come to me NATURALLY..so how the hell do i deal with this! any tips of when to actually look at someone when talking to them?

In 1948, Margaret Mead wrote that American society over-rewarded male positions. Female envy of that role, "reflects an overvaluation of men's achievments and a devaluation of the significance of the female role as wife and mother."

When the home is undervalued, "women will cease to enjoy being women, and men will cease to value women."

By this argument, one way to encourage misogyny is to undervalue housewives. Two questions come to mind:

1) Do women, on the whole, seem happier or more depressed since these changes of valuation? (If you agree that men's achievments in the workforce have been overvalued.)
2) Does the devaluation of "women's roles" lead to misogyny? Do men seem to respect women more or less when running the household is seen as unimportant?

(quotes are from Mead's "Male and Female", pg. 85)

Lately, I've been trying to do my part in making plans with a new friend. We've only gone out and done something together once (which I initiated) but we had classes together for a long time and now talk daily.

The problem is that my friend would like to do stuff together, but she won't make the plans. When I talked to her about it, she said doesn't have a preference for what we do and is open to doing almost anything, so she rather defer to me making all the plans and she'll go along with whatever I pick.

Is this a bad sign?

Have you ever been, or know someone who has been, in this position? How did it work out in the long-run? Did one or both people end up resentful?

Also, is this kind of behavior on my friend's part indicative of indifference about spending time together...or could it be that she is so willing to see me that she's up for anything?

And why would someone want YOU to make all the plans?

Please share your own experiences/insights.

i do. i am 25 and work f/t and still feel like people judge one another way too severely. it seems as if even adults glance over people to see the way they simply appear. i really try not to, because i feel it's horribly judgemental but know it's impssible to completely avoid.

No matter what, I always find it so hard to express myself, whenever I talk to people, or even through actions. My mind always freezes and I always get so anxious and I restrict myself, and I always get jealous of other girls, who just can say anything to any person, especially guys, and make them laugh and smile. I want to join in, but I can't get over this feeling, and I hate it. How do you just feel free to say or do whatever you want, and feel comfortable doing it?

My father was violently, sexually & psychologically abusive.
I married a man (&later left) who abused me pschcologically, telling me I was stupid, fat, embarrassing and trying to control who I was with etc, and isolating me from my family. I didn't see him as abusive, until my sis highlighted his behaviour (& he cheated on me too).
My ex b/f, displayed behaviour which I shall list. I never saw it as abusive until a Y! answerer suggested it.

He hit things when angry, shouted & swore at me, overly sensitive, jekyll/hyde, road rage, drove dangerously to scare me, made me feel guilty if I didn't spend enough time with him in group situ's, told me what to think, say & feel, discounted my feelings, didn't listen, finished my sentences & argued back at something I hadn't said, pushed me to do things I didn't want to, 'always right', made me question myself, alpha-male.
How can I avoid attracting / falling for men like this in future? I'm just falling for my dad over & over again :-(

OK, I was in this big house. I think I was like the made or something because I was vaccuming and mopping. I went upstairs and the halls were very narrow and there was twists and turns everywhere. I saw all these little beds like toddler size. There was a bunch of them. No big bed just lots of small ones. Anyways I saw this women dressed in an old fashioned dress carrying a laundry basket. Then I noticed a set of extremely steep stairs. I thought to myself there no way that women could go down those with a laundy basket. But she did and with ease. So I went down to see what was down there. It was a huge space like a wherehouse. There where little kids playing everywhere. Then this little girl came up to me and said mama.I said I'm not your mama. then she grabbed me and said mama again. I tried to push her away yelling I'm not your mama. Finnally I pushed her off. Them she sarted to cry. A parade type float rolled up with little people on it. One dressed as a pirate bit me on the hand.

I woke up with my heart pounded from this, I hadn't thought of her for a long time but it was odd that I was back home at my mothers

Why would someone practice reverse/d psychology? It's almost like telling someone you are the president of Delta airlines and that person sentencing you to a life much like Jesus.
I would like to know if anyone has studied reverse/d psychology in a educational setting. And if the practice of reverse/d psychology as child discipline can contribute to insubordination in school and later, society in general?

This is the most strangest dream I have EVER dreamt...because I am a christian and the dream kind of goes against what I believe in...so anyway here goes. -note that it was pretty long-

First...my sister, two other friends, and I wanted to get on a train to get to this other "station" (we couldn't walk cause the road was all water). we decided to split up for some reason because there were two routes...so then we did, my sister and i took the left, friends took right. when my sister and i got to the station, i found out the people that took the right route all died because of some accident.

-somehow i am back to where i started with my sister, mom, and some other random people-
i thought that the right route (train) was safe to take because the accident was over, so we took it and we realize it wasn't exactly an accident that caused people to die, it was this group of people that had some special powers and they were racing in the "track" carelessly. there is more to the dream
