i do. i am 25 and work f/t and still feel like people judge one another way too severely. it seems as if even adults glance over people to see the way they simply appear. i really try not to, because i feel it's horribly judgemental but know it's impssible to completely avoid.

Sadly, yes, attractiveness plays a part in peoples response to one another.

As you get older, it will change. Attractiveness and symmetry are more important during the peak sexual periods. But, it never entirely goes away - even 80 year old guys appreciate gorgeous women and would nail them if they could. They wouldn't touch an 80 year old woman.

"Dislike" is a strong term. "Disinterest" may be more applicable. Appearance can be modified by wealth. As you age, physical attractiveness becomes less important. The neat part about being in the age group in which attractiveness is so important is the ease in which you can turn things around. Rent the movie, "Lawnmower Man" to see what I'm talking about. Everything is perception.

Alot of people are like that, I used to be.
I hate to say it but I used to think, what we see is what you'll get. It's not neccessarly true.I've learned not to worry about what other people look like. There is beauty in everything. The beauty comes from each person's own uniqueness not what's on Style T.V.

Ever think that someone may too busy with other issues (good or bad) that they're not concerned with brand name clothes and the mirror?

Wouldn't the world be boring, if we all looked, dressed, acted alike? I think so.

I never give anyone a second look--unless they are so extreme in what they are wearing or how they look.

SOME people are shallow enough to dislike people just based upon looks and fashion--but hopefully, they grow out of that...hopefully.

Yes, some people of all ages can be extremely judgmental--and I find that to be wrong. There's always something that someone else won't like about them, too.

Unfortunately, yes. In society today, a persons appearance is everything. people base everything off if this, first impressions, the way someone carries themselves, $$, etc. Especially in an area like where I live (Southern Orange County, CA).

I am a single mom, all my money goes into supporting and clothing my son...LOL so I think its safe to say that I dont dress very well for myself...
yet I have loads of friends...and very good ones
I think Personality has more to do with it... how you feel about yourself and how you carry yourself...
which could be related to how one is dressed in that... if you dress poorly you are more apt to feel poorly about yourself and have a poor outlook on life...
this is an emotion that other people instinctively pick up on...
so it could be related but I dont think its directly to how a person is dressed

Yes, it's sad but true. I remember as a kid thinking that everyone was so mean, but I remained hopeful because I thought things would eventually change because I didn't see adults behaving that way. Sadly, what I've realized is that adults are just as bad and judgmental as kids are, they just aren't as loud about it.

It may not be fair but that's the way it is. You only get one chance to make a good impression. Dress neatly and keep yourself well groomed.

the world is such a mess.... we are raised in societies to be idiots... shallow people think they are better than the others... we are changing to look at inner beauty and strength ... the world changes slow... we are slow to turn away from violence, stupidity and prejudice..... someday we hope common sense will conquer the majority and life can be easier for us all.
