We've all heard the stories....... "oh, I was beaten as a child" or "I was sexually abused when young" being used as excuses as to why some people grow up with little value for life and those around them. I'm referring specifically to ones who grow up to maim, torture, or kill other humans, not just general violence that you see in families. I mean REAL, DEADLY violence.

How many out here actually believe that how we grow up can make that strong of an impression on a person, and how many think it's just an excuse for someone to try and get out of trouble for having no decency towards human life? Please give a reason for your answer.

I firmly believe that no amount of violence can give an excuse for that kind of debased attitude towards others. To me, there can be no excuse for harming another human, animal, or anything else. Talk to me folks........let me hear what you are thinking.................

I have been a pretty quiet person through out my entire life, and noticed that, through my school career, myself and people like me have been treated differently in the aftermath of school shootings.

By being treated differently, I mean anything between people making comments like "It's always the quiet ones" to being physically harassed.. for instence.. shortly after Columbine, a kid actually spit on my backpack (I was a shy/quiet girl, had the whole "goth" look going on)

I just want to see what other people's experiences have been like, have you noticed people treating you differently after events like Columbine and VA-Tech.

I know I can't possibly be the only one.

It was beautiful today. Would have been a good day for a hike. What were you doing today? I worked, as usual, inside and on the playground.

Or do you think it doesnt matter?

If you do think it can have an adverse affect on you, would it not be wise to avoid these ones, limit your time with them or even eject them totally from your life?
What do you think?

I read somewhere that, on our "Death Beds", we will look back on our lifes' and we will regret MORE THOSE CHOICES and DECISIONS that we NEVER MADE! as compare to those CHOICES and DECISIONS that we DID MAKE! that being true (I believe it is true), look back on your life, what is one choice or decision that you regret TODAY not making? Our current age is relevant to this question, if you can give your age, or at least give us all some idea, for example, my age (downtown) I am between 45 and 52 y/o.

what makes them snap out of all that? we all know crazy things happen in that lifestyle, and should anything that happened during that time be held agianst them in the future? is it just being young, or is the growing problems among our kids indicative of a larger, more menacing issue?

I am happy with how my life turned out and my realitives are not and they keep discussing the "bad things" about my life and I am tired of hearing it from them, because these "bad things" are non issues with me.
I stood up to these people last night for the first time. Everytime we are togehter I hear them repeat (like parrots) these "bad things" and ask me questions about them, that I have answered 1000 times (and they can't seem to remember my answer).
So when they were verbally attacking me (again) last night, I said, "I do not want to talk about (blank), let's talk about about my decision to return to school for further education". And it worked, they closed their traps. However the conversation about the positive things in my life was short lived. I was then asked what degree I was going to school for, as I began to reply I was cut off and never got to tell them.
I don't know how they are going to act in the future, will they continue with their old ways or not.

A friend expressed concerns that my eating habits resemble those of a non-purging bulimic.

Apparently people with the condition partake in occasional binge episodes followed by excessive exercise, fasting and/or severe food restriction.

In general, I exercize regularly and have a fairly healthy diet inclusive of all the necessary food groups. My friend's concerns lie in the fact that I eat [relatively] small meals and go on 3-day water fasts after consuming junk or fast food.

I'm personally satisfied with my diet and feel physically great. In regards to fasting, I know it has detoxifying benefits and that is my chief reason for doing it.

Is there really a problem?
