I'm working on a paper for my sociology class and need categorize behaviors as deviant or nonconforming. Basically I need an example of a nonconforming behavior, because I already have the deviant ones listed.

For example I had to observe a person, without their knowledge, and write about their behaviors. The person that I observed is completely deviant, but I am not sure if her actions can be counted as deviant or noncomforming, or deviant as well as nonconforming. For example, she does not respect other people in the building as well as people of authority.

With so many people doing drugs and alcohol, you may not want to conform to pressure from peers, thus nonconformity occurs to a known deviant behavior.

If three kids are spray painting and one of them does not that could be nonconforming to a deviant situation.

People that walk on the wrong side of the hall may not be conforming but they aren't necessarily deviant either.

I could think of more but this should send you on your way.

nonconformity: marching to the beat of your own drum
deviance: the skin of the drum is human skin (thank you Hannibal Lector, fava beans and Chianti!)

A non-conformist doesn't want people who are not important to them dictating what they should wear, in what activities they should partcipate, etc. A local club wanted me to join. I told them I don't do meetings, because I went through enough of that in my youth. I was willing to help them with their charity efforts. I told them if they wanted me as a member with that condition, I would join.
