Yep, I try to sleep too. When you sleep, you can't think of things so you won't get upset.

This is not an easy thing to do. When you are in a high emotional state, you need to take 10 and tell yourself over and over again to think with your mind and with calmness. You need to focus on this and push your emotions to the back of your mind and not feed off of them. As we all know emotions have been the cause of a lot of grief, to be able to detach from them is a good thing and more people need to work on detaching from their emotions.

I didn't do it consciously, but I did do it for a number of years. I went through a very abusive marriage, physically & psychologically & that was how I survived. My emotions just shut down. It was hard to get them back. When I faced it I had to deal with all the crap I buried. The shrink gave me pills, but I don't take them unless I feel a panic attack coming on.

DO you mean like just ignore your emotions?
Cause like mine got to be so bad, and such big problems, i just hid it without telling myself too. Like it just happened, and i run from it everyday.
But I prob didnt anwser your question at all, but i tried :]
