YES it does affect us. While each of us is affected differently, we are ALL affected. If we weren't then watching happy/sad/funny/exciting movies would be pointless. We have to try to maintain the balance between, keeping ourselves doing well, but at the same time, try to be kind to those who can be downers. Just like a bad mood can be contagious, so can positive thoughts

I know it has an adverse effect on your well being, people like that are very narrow minded and thoughtless and drive all their negativity onto your shoulders, I call them emotional vampires, the best thing to do is to stay well away from them and just tell them, sorry but I cannot do with your negativity anymore and if they don't like it then its an easy way to get rid of them, I had a friend who was so bad at been negative it made me very ill, wished I was stronger in those days but boy I am now I can spot the emotional vampires a mile off and I hope you learn to do it yourself before they do you down.

Yes it does, if your friend is in a bad mood it rubs off on you especially if they need u there with them, you find yourself getting miserable and glad to get away, i have a friend at the min who 9 x out of 10 is miserable and negative lately, (she's at the end of pregnancy) and trying to make her positive wears me out!!! i have limited my time from her because no matter what i say sometimes it dont work and she's realising this and trying to stay positive so 'ignoring' those kind of people sometimes can make then realise that they have no one to sit and moan at so they have to cheer up in order to still have some friends lol. I wouldn't totally eject her from my life i would prob switch on her in the end (if she didn't stop) and tell her about herself, it def matters.

Whoever you hang out with will affect you outlook and shape your values to some extent.
If you can stay objective about situations, you can make better judgements on the merits of the facts.
If you know some people who are consistently and unchangeably negative, it is probably best to limit your exposure to them. You might be able to show them some positive attitudes in some cases, but don't waste too much time on it or you'll be frustrated and risk being pulled down into their mire.

Yes of course. It's not just positive things that are infectious. Negativity is infectious too. Limit your time with negative people. Or try to find out why they're so downbeat all the time. Surround yourself with positivity and you''ll be surprised at how profound an effect that'll have on your outlook in life.

It depends on the person or how much you care for them . I had a friend who would automatically feel positive if others were down, i guess knowing that you'r e in a better situation than others makes you feel good. I , on the other hand, get very depressed if my boyfriend or close friend is down because ide empathise with them. Negative thinking people dont have to be cutt off completely unless they are just downright annoying you, then ide say go for it and make yourself feel good instead!

Yes they can affect you..I know this as it is happening to me right now. I limit my time with them greatly and eject them if they are not very important to me to begin with.
I am very sensitive (maybe overly) but if I hang in that type of atmosphere it brings me down. I have to be able to function for my family.
Times when it has been very bad are when I have employed friends who were like this and have had to tell them about themselves...which is never fun.

You become whatever you surround yourself with.
However, if you are strong enough to resist letting their negativity in, you may last a bit longer. But that doesn't mean that their negativity won't eventually get to you after a while.
Nobody really wants negativity around them.
Drama is so boring.
If I was you, I'd limit my time with those negative people.

Yes it probably would have an effect. Don't think I would avoid them but would not choose to spend all my time in the company of negative people......not healthy. If you hold onto yourself then can be a help to the negative thinkers as in show by example.

I believe that areas or people send out negative or positive vibes. If you are in an area that has negative vibe it'll rub on you one way or another and you'll end up as negative as they are. Even if you try for a while but eventually it'll catch up!
i say EJECT.
