I want to be thankful for the things that I have - enough money, good health, education to get a job. However, I consistently focus on what did not work out in my life - my marriage and my child is not with me.

Yet, I feel bad when others at work talk about their intact families and children and I can not. My child lives with her Dad in another state and is 15. She is going through the normal teenage problems.

What other ways besides training your mind and leaving it to God when I feel bad about my life are there?

I want to feel that I have something good going for me in my life.

What is it called when you really like someone, and you miss them so much when they're gone, when you hear their name it cuts like a knife, or makes you very happy, and everytime you walk past them, it seems like slow motion?

I do NOT have the major symptoms of OCD (counting things, washing hands or doing other routines obsessively, etc.) However, I do sometimes suffer major anxiety over little things that no one else would notice, but I notice. For example, a purse that I bought had a tiny, miniscule, unnoticeable (except by me, when I look very closely) scratch on the brass buckle, and I obsessed over it like crazy! Everyone told me you could barely see it, but yet I let it bother me for weeks. It's only when I buy new things, whether it's clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. I will find something wrong with it, usually it is barely noticeable, like a tiny scratch that nobody will even see, and I fixate on it. It has to be perfect. Usually I just end up making myself miserable. Is this OCD? Its the only OCD-ish symptom I would have? Thanks for any answers. Serious answers only, please! Ive used Yahoo answers before, and some people can be mean in their responses. Just looking for answers.

So this person was telling me a story where she was doing some do-it-yourself hypnosis on somebody. They "patient" was telling how she was in a forest and there was a guy there and then she stopped talking and acted like she was chocking, and then she developed bruises around her neck.

I have little or no energy most of the time. Sometimes I am constantly hungry, and other times I have not eaten all day and still have no desire or motivation to eat. I sleep constantly, only getting up to walk to class and back. I dont hang out with my friends, well the one i still have. The only time I am remotely cheerful or like my old self is when my boyfriend calls, and when he dosent I get worse.

at first i thought he was disturbed mental ill kid who just went on a spur of the moment rage. Now that I know it was planned out it gives me a new feeling. its one thing to be mental ill but even most mental ill ppl don't commit mass murders and none plan them so I don't blame it on him being mental ill. he wasn't mentally ill. he was just evil. Have your feelings change since you found out that it was planned and not spur of the moment

I learned in my physical anthropology class that we are not to put the blame on HIM - but on us.

Humans evolved to be social - evolved as a group. Now, particularly in the U.S., it is individual success that is praised. As a result, loners are more likely to exist. He had no social support group. This is why he got paranoia (thought everyone was against him) and acted out to such an extreme level.

It's not that I want to die. I want to live so much. But each day I hope that this is it, that I won't have to deal with my life any more.
My life isn't horrible. No one makes me miserable. I do it to myself. I ruin things for myself and I disappoint every single person I know. I can't stand the person I am now.
I try to change. But the truth is, I have turned into this horrible person that I hate.
I attempted suicide twice, but I didn't want to die. If I did, I would have done it the first time. When I feel like I can't take it, I swallow tylenol pills. I hope that I'll fall asleep and not wake up, but of course I do.
I need a break to just deal with myself. Away from everyone else. But I can't get that here on earth.
I don't know what to do. I can't keep living like this. I won't. It isn't fair for me to be like this.
I told my mom. She knows pretty much everything. It's no big deal to her.
I won't call a hotline. They aren't right here to help me.

I dont know all the details about how it would be fed, etc., Just say it was done as an experimeriment, and these details were worked out. Would this child learn some sort of launguage to speak to itself, would it learn to lie, or always be truthfull, would it learn violence, or sadness, or anger?Would it learn sexuality, love, jealousy, materialism? What I'm asking, I guess, Is what types of behaviors are genetic, or contained within onesself, insticntual, and what types are learned from other humans.

..and eventualy end up chasing the very person away - the one I feel close to? I crave close companionship, and although, I initally have a wall around me, but once I start feeling close and start getting emotionally drawn, I kinda become emotionally dependent on the person. Is this emotional insecurity? I like to constantly need confirmation that I am not doing anything wrong and that I am still in favor with the person I love or like very much. How do I stop this from happening? Is it not natural to be vulnerable and open with someone...? Is it not natural to be dependent on someone close? Or is it that, I am perfectly fine, but the guys I picked were the wrong choices? Thank you..
