Social Science - 22 March 2007

On my days off or when I don't have to go into work until 2pm, I have a hard time wanting to get out of bed until just before popping into the shower... "It's like what's the point to sit there and do what?" I need a new light of motivational advice.

PS. I'm not suicidal- just bored.

I'm planning on getting a BA in International studies, or history with hopefull a double major with journalism with one of those. But I eventually will get a masters in History. Emphasis in Europe. Also why do black women assume everytime a rapper calls a woman out of her name he's talking about them, since rappers date and have sex with all kinds of women, Although its an important issue, isn't murdering others and drug dealing a more important topic. The hostility towards other black men since it involves taking lives seem to be more important name calling however detrimental that might be.

I'm on 100% VA disability, so I don't work..I am 45 yrs. old & usually sit home alone~~hardly spend time even in the livingroom, I don't even usually cook!! My "comfort Zone" is my bed room)..My life is pretty much in my bed with somethin g to read, or my laptop! I RARELY even watch TV..I have NO ENERGY, or NO INCENTIVE to do ANYTHING!!~~I also have some medical problems (can't drive no more due to them!!) my daughter & her fiance live near by..otherwise I don't know many people here~~the rest of the family is out of state!! Any advice??

In my office, there is this man who looks like Keanu Reeves. Now I know some of you may think he is not all that but I absolutely love him and always will. Problem is I get nervous around that guy who works with me. He's also a boss (not mine!) and is very confident and I don't like being shy around him. When he is not there I'm glad cause I can do whatever I want freely but when he's there I act like a chicken. Please tell me what to do - I can't leave work just for him.....

...you are deeply influenced by serious societal ideals? This is a potentially confusing questions so I have some explanations. Take a look at your clothes. Are you wearing an outfit that you think is attractive on you because of your sex? What if the opposite sex was wearing it? Would you think that some of your actions are strange coming from the other sex? There are alot of ideas about what is the "right" way for a certain group to act or the "right" expectations that a certain group should have. Some people think that it is strange for men or women (or even people with certain skin complexions) to do particular things and because of this they adjust their lives and beliefs so that they meet those standards. It's mostly subconscious and until someone points it out you rarely realize it. I am 100% aware of the fact that no person can live without the influence of another so 100% "freedom" is impossible but don't you think that expectations about sex/"race" are over the top?

It is high-end -- 500,000 over 1+ mil with strict HOA rules about toys, jungle gyms, etc. When I bought this, none of these things were out. When I moved in, these things, and more, are everywhere. I have had a pest neighbor with no life peeping into my basement windows with the other neighborhood women. !?! There are screaming kids (25) of all ages everywhere around my house. I thought this neighborhood was my age (50s) and up. These homes are just outside the city so I thought it would be quiet to read on my deck or patio. Not so, people cut through my space all the time, screaming kids, I can't take it. I am sure my pest neighbor thinks she got jilted when I moved in, but I got jilted by not getting what I was looking for in a home either. I didn't want to be isolated, but I didn't want to lose total privacy either. How would you go about getting privacy when you can't have a fence?
