... and what would you do if someone looked you in the eye and lied?
Those ways of telling a lie from the truth are already old and they don't work anymore. It's harder to tell a lie from the truth these days and personally I prefer to follow my instinct.
Know the person. Know if they're used to telling lies or not. If they're used to it, they'll have come prepared; if they're not, ask a detailled question and you've got them down right there on the spot.
Same with those who come prepared. If they tell a lie, ask a detailled question - especially about something that has happened a while ago that couldn't have made a huge impression on anyone, that has something to do with the lie. If they have no problems recalling it in great detail, chances are you've a liar on your hands.
Basically, what you have to do is be one step ahead - then make them believe you believe them, they'll let their guard down and you can catch them unguarded.
Otherwise there's no way you can tell a lie from the truth. Not anymore. People've copped on.

Realistically neither looking in either direction is going to help you if you are lying, LOL. You would be best to just tell the truth (prepare yourself for a long web or lies, LOL). The theory is that you subconsciously tend to look to the left when you lie. That's because the imaginative and creative part of your brain is on the left (or so they say). Looks like someone is trying to fool-proof their manipulation.

The body gives clues as to what the person is thinking, so, really, when someone is lying they WILL act differently and someone might notice.
I don't know which direction will "indicate" if you're lying or not, but I know one thing for sure: if you are NOT lying you WILL face the person, eye on eye. Also, you will NOT seem nervous or uncomfortable and will breathe normally.

I heard that if you look down and to the left, you are lying, but who knows.

I heard if they're looking you in the eyes they're telling the truth, where if they look around while talking they're possibly lying.

If you look to the right you are lying, because the right side of the brain is the creative side where the imagination is.
Vince sorry you are wrong.

I don't believe in that nonsense. . .sometimes a truck could be using their air brakes and you turn to the right or a dog could be barking at your brother and your turn to the left. Sometimes people are curious, not liars. Me, I'm honest. However, sometimes when I talk to someone, I feel the need to look away. . .
