I live in India and my country is universally loved because of its great heritage, great traditions, great religions, great culture and bountiful nature. We gained freedom through nonviolence and our ‘Rashtrapitha’, Gandhiji believed and practiced it but he fell a prey as victim to violence. All religions preach love, brotherhood, nonviolence and tolerance, but its followers live more by dogmas and evils and seldom practice these noble virtues. I am not tutoring you on certain values and its self-enforcement, but do not you think that if mankind imbibes these qualities, this world would be a more safe, secure, peaceful and loving world to live in? Don’t you think that we live in a world of swords raised against our own brethren?

I'm taking 15 hours of college, and work around 40 hours a week. School is important to me, so I study a lot during the times I'm not working. But, it seems like when I stop to take a breath, there is noone around. Am I working too hard, or taking things too seriously? I have some definite goals that I'm working toward, but lately I've been thinking its not worth it.

Human civilization has, more or less, evolved from tribal-state to city-state to nation-state over the last 10,000 years or so. It would seem that the next logical step is world-state. What new challenges would such a govenment face? What would be the benefits and drawbacks?

I am curious as to whether anyone here as studied this idea before, and if there are any philosophical or anthropological works available on the subject.

Tell the truth, don't simple say,'A nice guy.' Its an insult, because the majority of women I know seem to have a thing for assholes. What do you gals want? Really want? Really? I'm a nice guy, I'm goodlooking, good personality. I go out to bars to have a nice time, not drink and fight. Yet is is these latter, angry men who get the women. Why? WHAT DO YOU ALL WANT IN A MAN???

I have a co-worker (which I wrote about him on here before) that lies-by-proxy. He will lie about other's success. He will lie about stuff to make himself seem more knowledgeable.

Between being easily replaced (like with hydrogen in Japan or alcohol for combustion engines) AND forcibly phased out by governments worried about global climate change AND supporting less than savory regimes worldwide it would seem to me that the lobbiest underpinnings that are holding the price of oil artificially high are ready to snap. Even BP announced yesterday it is only spending 20 billion a year on oil development for the next ten years. It seems like a lot but it is one fifth of one quarters profits. If they really saw oil as a good investment why aren't they investing everything in it? Instead they are buying back their stock. Can anyone see oil as being anything but worthless 25 years from now?

They seem to be "book" smart and know absolutely nothing about the real world.
They just think they know.

I will name one: that we don't want women to be educated. That's untrue. If you read the last chapter of Proverbs you'll see that a good wife is anything but dumb!

When i dream, I always see myself in the same places.
For Example when i dream of going to the mall.. I always see the same mall in my dream but that certain mall does not exist in reality.
Its the same thing with School, Parks, Beaches and more. isnt that weird?

I'm an introvert. I've always had strong control over my passions and desires. It's no big deal, really. I don't mind showing it if I'm happy, i.e I'll crack a little smile, but most of the time I'm straightfaced. I'd say my emotions share a little room five doors down the hall from Logic and Reason, who I trust the most.

I also play piano, and my playing is disgustingly mechanical and emotionless. All my friends said, "Just let it out." Well, if I could do that, I wouldn't have a problem.

Emotions make me awkward and I'm not so good with them. Especially not in front of an audience.

I'm paradoxically inwardly-focused and really self-conscious. Probably because I'm 15.

It's not that I'm afraid of what people will think of my piano playing, but as much as I want to open up to be a better musician, I almost get angry at people for wanting me to show them my most private aspect as a performance.

That got off-topic.

Basically, is there a way I can become more open?

My best friend wants me to ask this question for her. This guy friend of hers she has been talking to for two years continues to tell her he is single BUT the other night she was going to be in his town (100 miles away) and he said to her if my roommate was not in town you could spend the night. I told her it seems to me his "roommate" is actually a female, possibly a girlfriend or maybe that he is gay and doesn't want her to know. He is kind of femimine. What is everyones opinion...she doesn't really know what to think and is afraid to bring it up to him because they are just friends but it bothers her why he would need to hide something from her. Thanks

I watched the programme last night and i am currently recovering from an Eating Disorder so i wondered what people's thought were. Has it given you an insight into Eating Disorders or do you still find it hard to understand? Who is to blame? Media, newspapers, celebrities, parents, peer pressure.....
