Yes, we can. But its a tall order. First, we must achieve complete literacy. Then, we must achieve gender equality. Next, woman empowerment. Thereafter, change the mindset of every indian male member as well as femele member(mothers of boys getting married). There must be strict laws enacted. We must have helplines in Govt depts and all TV channels. All citigens must be free to inform of any violations and their identity must be kept secret. Exemplary punishment must be given in case of abuse. We may later go on to punish those giving dowry in addition to those asking for it. And finally, as I said, its a tall order, but not something which is not achievable.

Depends on the culture. In some societies a dowry is simply an accumulation of household items that a girl collects and brings to the marriage. Sometimes called a glory box.

Dowry's are mostly a tradition in modern society, if they exist at all. Families are no longer dependent on their male offspring to help on the family farm, so "taking away" a son and repaying his worth to the family is no longer an issue.

Yes, we can. Women shouldn't marry someone who asks for dowry. This is about self-respect. It's that simple. I would feel they want money more than they want me.

can we? it is a thing started from the devaloka's it might sound funny but the word and the system is messed by our society to its convenience it was never like this before. that which started out of love has led people into totally a different meaning and way in life. that which has a start will definitely have an end in this Kaliyuga definitely a lady who started this system will make an end to this system also.

yes, we are trying to stop.GOVT of India has taken a very nice decision of equal rights in parents immovable/movable properties similar to their sons.implementation of this rule is not yet faster and not yet in general practice due to those in favor of dowry system . SUPREME COURT may pass a order asking delay in.

legally its a crime to give dowry. most women either don't know that or ignore it. its upto women to stand up and say no and discourage it.
