Social Science - 14 December 2006

My wife and I are in the process of fostering/adopting a child and we have been told that the child may have been sexually abused. The child is displaying inappropriate sexual behaviour (this is a VERY young child) to the point where she can not be left unsupervised around other children. We are committed to this child who is otherwise well-behaved and want to give her a the loving and secure home she has never had, but we have no idea how to support this child or get her the help that she needs.

Time and money are no object here but we need to know what we could or should do about this. How do you stop this behaviour? How do you talk to a 6 year old about sex and what is sexually appropriate? Are there any specialists in this area that we can take her to? Any advice anyone has about this would be great!

life as such and good for them, but sometimes I wonder if it's a cover up for something else. It's like it's unnatural; like everything's all sweet, and light and everything's glossed over. I just know such a person where everything's fine and never gets angry or shows their feelings of sadness - ever. I may be wrong, but is being sugary a cover up?

Even Asians are not able to distinguish every Japanese person from a Chinese person. But this desire to distinguish Asians from different national origins seems to preoccupy the minds of many white people in NYC. I can't tell you how ignorant they sound. They say things like "you don't look chinese," as if they would know by looking at an Asian person their ethnic group. Like Europeans, Asians have mixed heritages because of historical events like conquests and migration. It's an attempt to prove to themselves that they do not think all Asians look alike. Many Asians have mixed ancestry just like Europeans. Americans don't seem to care whether they distinguish an Italian from a Spaniard or a Swiss. Most Europeans cannot distinguish an European's nationality by their physical appearance. Why this peculiar differentiation between Asians? I hear this kind of stuff all the time

i have had the same thing happen to me but i had not fallen to sleep yet i was in the limbo of sleep and reality and as what was said i could not move all i could do was move my eyes and the force put me into the bed futher and all that moved it from me was me asking jesus for help so what i am asking where do i find the study to find out what has done this to me i had a second experience that came at me when i was woke and it forced me to the floor and i went thru the same experiance as the first but i was pushed on to the wood floor and it creeked as its weight was forced on me is this still a witch

i used to be a self harmer... but i havent for 4 months... which is good for me. i threw out my blades so i wouldnt be tempted anymore. i have counselling and am on antidpressants, but i recently went out to find more blades. and for some reason i cant seem to get rid of them again. i feel stupid. i dont know why i feel like this again.

It's a dilemma. Someone puts a lot of love into giving you an expensive present, when you were planning on getting the same thing, but better. In this case, what would you do? Settle for what they have given you, and enjoy it to spare their feelings? Or just buy the gift yourself regardless and sell what you've been given?

i am a 37 yo cd and i can pass with no problem i go ut in public all the time, my question is this. if a guy like me wants to dress and act like a girl as my way expressing my inner self. do you believ i have the right to do this so long as my actions cause no harm nor infringe upon anybody elses rights? i was recently told to leave a restaraunt where i was going to dine with my gf ( who is a girl) the waitress must have known when i spoke to her, it is the only part of being a girl i have a hard time faking. well any way the manager came over and told us we had to leave or he was going to call the polidce. we were minding our own buisness and not bothering anybody. i know for a fact that no one even gave us a second thought when we entered the place, in fact we had to wait 20 minutes to sit. in that time no one stared, snickered or otherwise gave us a second look. so what is it about us that scares all of you we are not perverts, weirdos, or anything of that nature .

To tell you the truth,as a Muslim i againts any sort of pornography but there is a story i wanted to share with the rest of you guys before considering to answer this question.This is how it goes...
One day,i go to one of this cyber cafe in my hometown to play an online game with bunch of kids.Suddenly,when i was playing,a few guys screaming and chearing at the PC on my left.I don't give a damn about what are those guys doing since it's not my business but suddenly one of them call me and say "dude,you got to see this".I was shock to see it was a porn clip showing a young,homeless girl being 'messed up' by a bunch of perverts in a van.After they finished with her,they dump her by the street.I was so mad at those perverts that i stop playing Ragnarok,go to the counter and pay.I went out of the cyber cafe with anger mix with empathy to the girl.How could a fully grown men can have no respect towards women like they are animals?The website starts with a letter "B".Any comments?

A strong economy depends on exports significantly exceeding imports. We have an illegal immigrant population sending US dollars "home." We have China selling us most of consumables. We have very little to export since the labor costs in the US preclude selling at competitive prices. We are dependent on foreign oil for our national security and domestic energy needs.

What have we got going for us that suggests any possibility of surviving economically?
