Exploitation of a sleeping person occurs too. You might have restless legs syndrome. See a doctor.

I wish I could help you, I have had this happen to me off and on for years, and I take pills to sleep, so that it doesn't happen as often. It is the most terrifying thing and I don't know what it is. There are so many theories, about PTSD, and also a sleep disorder in which your brain produces a chemical at times that causes the sleep paralysis and vivid nightmares. Still it is so real I believe something powerful is there for some reason. But to give science credit sleeping pills seem to stop them for me, possibly by blocking that stage of sleep. I do believe in the occult, but I don't believe a witch would bother you in this way.

For something that supposedly happens to 1 in 6 people, this phenomenon is so rarely talked about it has no name. I think the folks in Newfoundland refer to it as "hagging" and in the US it's been referred to as "riding". This has happened to me twice, both within months of each other.

The middle age folks believed it to be either a succubus or an incubus, riding a person & attempting to have sex with them. That's the middle ages for you....

Personally, I think it may be your subconscious not yet having re-entered your conscious body in the moments you're realizing that you are in bed or have been asleep. You are waking up while astral-projecting, so the paralysis is there until you come together. Still, it's creepy especially if you sleep in the dark (and who doesn't?).

Send me an e-mail if you want to know some sources you might look into for researching these events, just wanna let you know there aren't many sources to look into.

Sweet dreams...

i had that first experience happen to me too, i also had a second subsequent experience right after i awoke from the first that involved my covers being violently pulled from me and then me being violently pulled to the side of the bed/past the foot of the bed, then i could move/awoke.

i never thought about a witch or demons, im open to the possibility, but i always discounted my experience as sleep paralysis and/or night terrors.

I would grab a Bible, and put a rosary around my neck, and call a priest in the morning.

Why are you asking these scary questions at night when it is dark? I was about to go to bed after one more question, and now I'm going to have to sleep with light on. Seriously. I hope you stub your toe. Good night.

you seem to have sought the right help from God in your time of need and gotten a positive effect from that plea. i admire that course of action and feel so relieved for you that you have received help from the almighty Father.

on the other hand your plight has continued which disturbs me some. people have been known to have their church minister administer holy water throughout the room involved.

this is the only advise that i have for you since i'm not an expert in these matters. your church minister is sure to have something to say and i surely hope he
introduces you to the solution you need want and desire. i should want that whoever is willing pray for you.
