I'm 18 yrs old and need to improve the social status of my life. I'm more on the reserved side, and never really had a gf yet. I guess you could call me shy, but I'm not really afraid of talking to girls, just never know the right things to say.

One of my friends suggested going to the bowling alley to meet people. There are certainly great possibilities there but all of the girls I see are always in large groups or are talking with other guys. I'd feel ackward just randomly going up to someone and bullshitting about nothing. I'm not some ugly nerd either. I'm 5'8, spiked brown/blonde hair, nice tan, wear name brand clothes and a chain.

From what I've seen, it almost seems like you need to do drugs and go to parties if you want to have a lot of connections.

Over the last 10 years, anonymous chat has allowed people to treat other human beings in a horrible manner without repurcussions. People have often said that nobody would ever say such things to someone's face that they would say online. I am wondeing if this is still true, though.

The internet has allowed for so much anonymity, and perhaps taught people to treat others in person less humanely.

The internet has brought a demand for instant answers, adding to people's impatience and stress.

Last, people who are subjected to abuse on the internet can feel just as badly as those abused in reality. So, now they are just being subjected to abuse they would otherwise not receive.

What are your thoughts?

When i was a kid. I know under 10, my mom babysat these 2 kids and there was a baby or a little older but under 5 if not a baby ( i can't remember clearly) and i think he was sleeping. Well, i got on top and don't know if i humped. Then when i was still young. I don't know how young maybe 8-11, I put my breasts in my cousins face when she was sleeping and she was really young too. but thats all i did and with the kid i got on top of, i am like 98% sure i had clothes on but see, it makes me feel like a bad person because i would never do this now well obviously but knowing i did it now makes me feel HORRIBLE! i obsess over it and people even tell me it's normal when you're young but you hear all these people talk about rape and i can't tell myself enough it wasn't rape. Then my mom said if i go to a councellor, they will have to tell the parents of the kid even though i was a kid myself. and i was like thanks alot, now it will make it seem like i am a bad person when i was a kid! I wish there was other people who did this exact thing and tell me how they deal with it and know they arn't a bad person. Sometimes people wonder what happened to me when i was younger because of certain things and what if people wonder or the kid wonders what happened to him. I mean i am pretty sure i had clothes on but i was a kid too but knowing they would have to tell the parents makes me feel 100x worse. I feel like i shouldn't be living!! or be able to be happy.

In a century where we have reached the moon, why do people still look down on each other?

2006-09-25 16:30:56 · 16 answers · asked by pinkoink 2 in Other - Social Science

Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? I'm sure this has been asked a billion times by other people, but not like this... OK,

So if you expect the unexpected, then that makes the unexpected the expected. So doesn't that mean you're expecting the expected, which is redundant, because that is the same thing as expecting something. So people who live in a world where they supposedly "Expect the unexpected", don't they, in fact, live in a world where there is no such thing as the unexpected? I just came up with this a few moments ago. If you still don't get what I'm saying after reading it a couple of times then contact me and I will try my best to explain what I mean via email.

Thank you in advance.

Well.. my problem is SUPER hard to explain, but i'll try: I idealize everything. I idealize women, friendship, i mean.. everything and i do it automatically. In addition, this has given me several problems and desilutions. Other thing i wanna say: I do everything, i'm cool, i'm funny, i speak 3 languages, i play excelent almost any sport, i drum very well, i'm super handosome, i got a LOT of friends, and i'm an excelent family, and i'm a very good, excelent person. i got almost everything, but i feel that i don't recieve the recognition and admiration i diserve, and that makes me sad. But deep inside me I think that by doing all that i SHOULD be admired by everyone like some sort of "god" :S. and since i don't recieve the grade of admiration i think i diserve i'm not happy. Lately NOTHING satisfies me. I'm always wanting more and more of wish i have. I'm not studing in school. I just wanna love what i have in life and live it. How can i stop this irrational thoughts?

I am not talking a political figure here or a tv personality, these don't count. I am talking someone you know personally, who you feel so angry about that you would go to 'almost' any lengths to see hurt. Have you ever asked yourself what justifies this thinking? Would your (or a) religion save you from your self now?

I do--I admit it. I don't ask questions just read them. Like for instance I go into the other countries forums (I'm an American) and just nose around like some pathetic spy because I just want to know what they talk about. I'm just curious, but I feel guilty. Should I?

i can eat in a restaraunt, ok, but to eat at home, with my family, is annoying.I prefer to eat alone, and my dad was the same way. I can eat with my family, but we all eat at different places. Hubby eats at the puter, I eat in the bedroom, and the kids eat in their rooms, and so we don't all eat together. We eat dinner, like turkey day and x-mas at the table, but that is it. When I eat in front of my kids, when they finish their food, and want more b4 I am finished with mine. It ruins my appetite. Plus, cooking makes me lose my appetite. i usually cook for myself and eat in the bedroom, where I can read in peace, listen to music, ect. Is it normal for me to not like eating in front of my family/friends? i can eat in a restaraunt, because ppl arent focussed on My eating, just their own...no i dont have an eating disorder.

I saw this on TV. Woman A is suspected of killing her abusive husband and Woman B tries to tell her that she owes a debt to society by telling the truth. How exactly does she mean by that?

If two men of one particular race rape a little girl of another, and then her father shoots the men as they walk to their trial case, should the shooter be found not guilty? Why or why not? Is it just? Would it be any less just if the shooter waited to kill them after the trial? Should USA have a detailed code book on revenge like Albania does? This all comes from the movie "A Time to Kill"

I guess this is a question as old as time? Seems like everytime I need advice on what to do at the current moment, people do give an answer, yet tend to bring up my past actions, tend to assume my state of mind, and critise things that no longer exist. Is it as simple as they want to spread their pain to me so they don't feel lonely???

Don't say genetically; untrue. Nobody else in even my extended family comes close; isn't that funny? I believe it is a healthy thing to laugh, or at least smile when it's appropriate, many people apparently don't (or can't?). Now don't say they're pessimists, either, 'cause pessimists think all you optimists are pessimists, so forget it.

Sometimes, after a hard day of fighting with traffic, dealing with all the bad behavior of people, and trying to get along with everyone, I just want to say, "Stop the world, I want to get off." The stress seems to be getting the best of me lately. Do you ever feel that way? And why?
