Don't say genetically; untrue. Nobody else in even my extended family comes close; isn't that funny? I believe it is a healthy thing to laugh, or at least smile when it's appropriate, many people apparently don't (or can't?). Now don't say they're pessimists, either, 'cause pessimists think all you optimists are pessimists, so forget it.

A sense of humor requires a person to have a sense of the ridiculous. The Freshman, starring Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brandon is a classic example of ridiculousness, exhibiting humor.

As extreme and morally reprehensible as the movie Apocalypse Now was, there is a certain amount of humor and ridiculousness about it. Robert Duvall's portrayal of Lt. William Kilgore cannot be described as anything but humorous.

Jim Carey displays a great "sense of humor" on screen, despite a traumatic childhood.

Robin Williams is one of our most celebrated commediens, considered to possess a great sense of humor, yet sufferred from parental neglect, left in the care of nannies, tutors, and other household assistants.

Great commediens such as Whoopie Goldberg, Jackie Gleason, Red Skeleton, Martha Ray, Lucille Ball, and Charlie Chaplin had many personal demons to deal with. They dealt with their demons through humor and comedy.

It is a healthy thing to laugh when laugter is "appropriate". Sometimes it is even healhy to laugh when others think it is not "appropriate. Please don't abandon your sense of humor or the "ridiculous".

Lol I love your pessimistic comment there, so true.

I believe a person gets their sense of humor by the way they were brought up. If dad has a great sense of humor and they spend more time around dad then they'll have a great sense of humor.

Some eastern religions talk of a witness mentality where you actually view your life from a detached perspective and watch it like a TV show. If you could make a movie of your life, I think it would be amazingly hilarious to watch.

Nothing is funny ultimately. Because there's always someone suffering somewhere. Most sense of humor comes from lack of sincerity or pain

Here's a tip, if you think you're the only funny one in your family - maybe they're not laughing because you're not actually funny. Did you ever think of that?
