Life, as I've found, isn't pillows and roses, or whatever that saying is.
Look at nature, the gazelle. Lions take out the weak ones, leaving the strong to thrive.
I am not saying that people self destruct only out of some Darwinian principle, but because humans have no natural enemies. Something keeps the population from becoming too abundant, because if that were to happen, there would be horrible fighting and killing among neighbors every day.

I was told once that we were born to suffer. I did not want to hear it. But I feel that it is true. Some people suffer mental pain, others physical. Some feel both, and everyone feels it in different degrees and forms.
People self-destruct because their lover left them, because someone close died, because they cannot handle the pressures life has put before them, because people have forgotten to say thank you to them, or to lend a hand.
Because life has failed to give them better options.

Because it's just plain fun to be self destructive. Besides, it's not destructive if we learn from it.

There seems to be, within our nature, and self destructive power. But there is also an equal constructive power within us. The key is to find it.

It is easier to be bad than good, but so much more fun to be good!

Well we live in a world with a lot of problems, depression, addiction, despair, and loneliness are the plagues of our civilization. I feel the human spirit can only handle so much and the pain of life results in people giving up.
