A few months ago, I asked a few questions here about this boy I liked, for instance, how I should go about telling him I liked him and then asking what he meant when I was rejected. Well, the fleeting teenage hormones passed, and we are now friends. The problem is, over the summer, I have learned a lot about him and his life. He and his mother have bounced around in his life, they have never really stayed in one place very long, and now his mother is off on an adventure out of the city and she has left him with his step-father for God knows how long.
I have been thinking about his situation for a while now, and today I confronted him. Sometimes he can be a perfectly logical adult and pleasant to be around, but other times he doesn’t know when to stop pushing it. I asked him if the reason he was such an a** hole sometimes was if he was afraid of getting attached to me and our other friend, and this friendship thing, and if he purposely acted stupid to push us away. I asked if he tried to keep us at arms length because he thought that they weren’t done bouncing, and if he thought that that would make it less painful to say “goodbye.” After a little coaxing, he admitted that to be true.
He said that he would prefer detachment, and non-feeling. I know that even if he has convinced himself of that, he is a fire sign and a human being, and that he would be happier having something in his life, even if it was fleeting, but I don’t know how to convince him of this. I know that feeling, and it sucks, and my motherly instincts for my friends won’t allow me to just sit by and let him think that this life is worth nothing. I need help. I have limited experience in this matter. I can make him admit his fears, but I do not know how to get him to release them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My friend is always calling me and when we get on the phone he never says anything, he can actually take that silence I just do not get it, then when I tell him I'll talk to him later it's "no!" and then I say "ok, you want me to stay so we can talk?" and he says yes then it is back to the silence. I asked him once why he never talks and he says he doesn't know. It feels like he does this just to annoy me.

I am part Lithuianian, Irish, Dutch and French Canadian. Are my children white? They are 50 % me and 50% El salvadorian(Central American Country). Why do I only have a choice of white or caucasion as Ethnic background? Are my ethnic roots not important? Worse yet they ask me my race. As long as I have known I have been a part of the Human race. What are your thoughts.

And Arab influence ran from the middle east through Europe to Southern Spain. Bringing Culture, art, science and peace over 3 continents. Byzantium, Ottoman and others ruled for years helping Europe rebuild. With all this going on for 1400 years, what the hell is going on with Iaran. The country is still in the middle ages going backwards.

Please help me...it's just I am extremely shy and introverted in school. I really don't mean to be, but I don't know how to just come out of my shell and be myself around others. If anybody has any ideas on what I can do to become more outgoing I'd really appreciate it. :)

I finally figured out what my problem is. After taking some time to analyze our relationship, I finally realize the real problem between my fiancee' and I is my feeling of inadequacy. I met him as a student, when he was my professor, so I think I still harbour some feelings of inferiority (he is smarter...) Also, although I am an accomplished and interesting person (I speak 4 languages, have traveled around the world, have 2 bands, am a spoken word writer...) I tend to feel very intimidated among the 'academia' bunch, and my words don't seem to come out! I realize this is not his problem, yet I can't help but feel that my personality is changing for the worse when I'm with him! what can I do to change this, and please, don't tell me to leave him, because i love him! I simply want to understand what is happening in order to fix the situation.
