That my friend is one of the great mystery's of our time always puzzled me and my friends! have asked a few times but never get a satisfactory answer apart the one I got from my ex wife something about the fact that the door locks never work so they go in to the cubicle together so one can hold the door shut while the other gets the lines sorted out on the cistern top whatever that means ????????????????????????? and knowing my ex well I think she is telling the truth at least in her and her friends cases coz they were all out of control women I realise that answer is not correct for most women but as I said earlier that is the reply I got when I asked

Many reasons, protection, gossip, share lipstick, someone to hold the door when the lock is broken, in some cases to be the door. Hand you toilet paper if your stall is out and most women in since usually have to pee at the same time anyway. :-)

could possibly be for anthropological reasons in that in the times of early man it would be for safer for women to go in pairs or even groups to the toilet in case they were abducted by another group or attacked by an animal.if this kind of behaiviour led to survival and was successful for thousands of years then it is reasonable to assume that it would in grain it self in the female psyche. What i am suggesting is that it is the "fear" of going to the toilet that requires the assurance of another being there, not necesarily female but public toilets require female and male toilets and etiquite reuires that you stay to your own shitter.

To chat. When I used to go clubbing, loads of girls would be sat on the sinks having a laugh. It was the only place you could actually hear each other properly.

It gives something to complain about. You know "there's always a long line. guys never have a line. why are we mistreated"? If I used objective evidence, I could make a sound argument that half as many guys pee as women.

For me, it's because I'm very shy and anxious, and I don't like to walk across a restaurant/pub/lecture hall etc alone, with people watching me. I feel less self-conscious with company. I don't really like going anywhere alone in truth.

So we can talk about the other people in the party. Or option B is we are in a scary place and there is safety in numbers.
