If they are born to a captive life shouldn't an animal be socalized so that if it ever does happen to get loose there is less of a risk that it would attack? The tiger attack in Sanfrancisco in AP news? What are your thoughts?

I was shopping at a fish market in Baja California and saw this really strange looking animal for sale on ice. I have never seen anything like it on sale for human consumption... so I was curious to know if anyone can explain what it it. They were small bunches of finger long tentacles that were sort of a maroon color. The skin of the tentacles looked scaley... they definitely looked like some sort of animal that anchors itself to something. The tentacle ended in white claw looking heads with white scales/plates. What could it possibly be?

Animal X lives in a forest with very tall trees. While he can survive the best fruit grows at the top of the tree. Over time his descendants have long necks well evolve long necks. I can accept its not chance the long necked ones survive and take over short necked. But the fact the neck grew in the first place has to be chance unless the animal genome is intelligent and can pass down to the next one has to have a longer neck.
Mutated genes fair enough but is the mutation not down to chance. If there was a long necked mutation surely there could have been other mutations what a stroke of luck to evole the correct mutation where in fossil record are mutations that went wrong in my example we start off with only short necked animals long necked ones come along later. Lets say it takes millions of years for the long necked version to be perfected if the mutation is chance would there not be evidence of the mutations that went wrong

I know ground squirrels (chipmunks) hibernate. And this year there seemed to be more gray squirrels around. I saw them up until the first major snow storm. After the snow, I broke up some stale bread and put it outside for them, but it remained untouched - not even by birds. Or maybe they just don't like bread? Where's all the wildlife?

For example:
* Is it better to live on the top floor in an apartment with surrounding asphalt/concrete than to live in a villa with a garden?
* Is it preferable to live close or far from the ocean?

All tips are welcome (the question is regarding a subtropical part of the world if that matters)!

Evolution says that opposite genders get attracted towards each other to have sex & procreate. In short everything happens or is designed to happen so that a species can procreate & thus pass on their lives to the next generations. If this is true how do you explain HOMOSEXUALITY since it doesn't procreate? Some people even have sex with infants incapable of conceiving or with animals ? Why do they do this things ? Also what about those couples who have sex only with protections to avoid conception. Why do nature produce such humans if they are not interested in procreation ? Or even if such humans are created why they are filled with sexual urge ?
