For example:
* Is it better to live on the top floor in an apartment with surrounding asphalt/concrete than to live in a villa with a garden?
* Is it preferable to live close or far from the ocean?

All tips are welcome (the question is regarding a subtropical part of the world if that matters)!

Honestly, the best place to live to avoid spiders is the Arctic Zones.
I have been told that you are never more than 3 feet from a spider, and I believe it.
Not many spiders are really dangerous, and unprovoked (when they are generally left alone) attacks are rare, even in the grand scheme of things.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having spiders in your house, my house is full of spiders and they don't bother us at all.
There is a big one living in the bathroom and when you shower he comes and licks the condensation off the mirror. Way cool!
