I don't think the Tiger can be blamed in either situation. It was following natural instinct. Their was obviously some carelessness at the zoo or the Tiger would not have been on the loose to begin with...and the first attack was a result of the same problem.
I understand the threat the Tiger posed, but I certainly wish they hadn't shot it. Where were the people with the tranquilizer guns?
The zoo holds dangerous animals. That is why they are in cages and secure facilities. The Tiger is not to blame in my opinion.

please consider these statistics :
Over 300 people have been kille by domestic dogs in the U.S alone in the last 20 years. thats much less than countries without proper animals control.
42,116 people / year. are killed by car accidents in US alone.
people Killed by murders is 15,517
people Killed in airline crashes is 120
so now are we going to kill all dogs and ban flights and cars ? it is clear that the tiger has some problems. if we kill it, we will never know why it acted the way it did.
and if the next time something like this happens we will still be clueless.
instead if we let the tiger live, and study it closely we might find out the reason for its behaviour. and in the future we will be better equipped to deal with such situations.
ofcourse we need to make ABSOLUTELY sure that i cant attack anybody by taking necessary measures. the fact that it escaped its enclosure brings to light somebody's callousness and that person is more responsible for the young man's death. its not like other tigers will stop attacking humans if we punish this one.

The news here is reporting the Tiger was being taunted by those guys and got out and targeted them specifically.
Those guys didn't realize they are part of the food chain.
I think zoo's should have cameras monitoring the behavior of the zoo visitors (who are basically wild animals, born in captivity too).
Since people have been known to do stupid things to animals.
The zoo ultimately is responsible for the safety of the animals under their care

May be sad that a beautiful animal like that tiger needs to be put down but since it did what it did, it's going to have to be. The main reason I think is because if it did that to bystanders at the zoo just visiting, than for the saftey of the workers it has to be. Still it is kinda sad that it has to happen that way.

I must agree with you. The zoo did take precautions and I feel the injured and dead will be found to have let the tiger out. They then should be sued for the cost of the tiger and her replacement. She never would have had to be put down had it not been for these young men. She was a beautiful animal that was only following her instincts. In such cases there has got to be another way other than killing.

Well then it would probably already be dead. Siberians are facing severe poaching threats that may cause the wild population to go extinct. There's not a point in having wild animals if they have no habitat and no safe place to live. Until they can be saved and a habitat to live in without fear of poaching, the zoo is the only alternative to extinction.

It wasn't "put down", it was shot by authorities in the defense of another person.
I would say it should have been in the wild instead except it was probably born in captivity, and that it would probably lead a better life in captivity, due to poaching, loss of prey, and human expansion. Pretty soon tigers, along with many other species, will only exist in zoos.

The tiger was born in captivity. Large cats with this provenance really cannot be put back in the wild.
As for putting it down, the police found it mauling/killing a person. They really had no choice. There was not even time to prepare and use a stun gun.

Hey, there should have been another way to deal
with that. Tranquilizer darts. But I understand that
everything happened so fast and there was no
time to react. Someone here said something
about tasering the cat....ARE YOU CRAZY?!
A taser gun would only piss the cat off even more.

i'm bored stiff of listening to memories like this. Ignorant selfish people who think of that a kin cat isn't solid adequate for them... so as that they choose for an untamebale, wild, predator. one which we are going to not in any respect relatively very own, yet human beings crave the dominance over any such outstanding animal. it quite is cruel. it quite is selfish. it quite is incorrect. That tiger grew to become into protecting the only element it knew. That cage grew to become into its territory. you do not save an animal like that for the period of a tiny limited area. I doubt it had enrichment, or adequate room. interestingly it grew to become into pacing, nicely stereotypical habit isn't in any respect a solid sign is it quite... it won't be placed down, it quite is a predator, and its in basic terms instinct to compliment to chase, lash out and attack. in the event that they placed it to sleep, not in basic terms is it yet another blow to conservation courses around the globe, yet its is destroying an animal because of the fact it did some thing it grew to become into designed to do. Kill. as much as human beings hate to take heed to it, it quite is genuine. He ought to pass and be a area of a breeding application, save the species so as that they are able to be relatively wild as quickly as returned.
