In certain parts of Africa and Asia the mosquito spreads diseases like malaria and dengue fever - becuase they suck blood from people and while they're doing this they can be passing on the parasites that cause the illnesses - they are not necessarily lethal but malaria can be deadly if not treated quicky and although statistics vary, they do believe malaria kills somewhere between 500,000 and 1000,000 people a year - so if you are talking about danger to humans in terms of quantity affected, the mosquito would indeed be more dangerous than a back mamba which although MORE LIKELY to kill you if one bit you, is massively LESS likely to bite you than a mosquito - because mosquitos are absolutely everyhwhere in these hot countries and actively seek humans out, whereas black mamba's are quite shy unless they themselves are under threat - they tend to eat small mammals so would not go for a human unless it was attacked or felt threatened.

I was not going to rely to this until I saw Rabanis answer which is 100% WRONG!!! So very wrong it is not even funny.

I am not going to sit there and change his numbers because the bulk of them are not too far off (though their ranks are wrong). However what I will correct is his answer for sharks.

He said sharks kill 30-100 people per year. That is so wrong it it makes me sick (because it gives people the wrong impression of sharks). If you combine every shark species in the world they kill a total of less than 10 people PER YEAR. In 2006 they killed a total of 4 people.

As to the person who asked the question, if you go by sheer numbers of deaths humans top the list followed close behind by parasites (for example the parasite that mosquitos carry that cause malaria).

Every animal has potential to be very dangerous, when cornered or protecting itself or its cubs.

Poisonous snakes can be very dangerous as they are hard to see and strike quickly.
Cape Buffalo and Hippo are also very dangerous as they kill many people in africa

that's a pretty good question. On the discovery channel i saw an octopus that could poison you on contact also saw a south American frog that could do the same.I think there is no right or wrong answer for your question. Its all a matter of opinion.

I've heard mosquitos are responsible for the most human deaths by infecting their victims with malaria.
