We're told we're going to get six inches of snow in the next 24 hours. That means we'll either get ten, or a mere dusting. What goes into predicting the weather, and why haven't we learned to be more accurate with advancing technologies, better understanding, etc?

You hear them on TV all the time, there's a new system coming from Pacific or Atlantic. My question is do all the systems form in the ocean, whether it's storm front or low/high pressure. Do we ever get localized systems that are born, lets say within 24 hours, on localized region away from any water.

So, I know ozone is a secondary pollutant that absorbs UV radiation, and that it is just dandy in the stratosphere but really nasty at the surface when it is a part of smog, but does it do anything to temperature?

Ive lived in Chicago, Illinois now for 15 Years and every year its chilly/cold alot around this time and with snow.

Since last year it did not snow as much as the past years i have lived here with not alot of snow and as cold.

Now this year it has only snowed 1 time about 1 week ago and it has already almost completely melted when around this time its usualy alot of snow and in feet size of height.. right now theres none, and it also warmer than last year and the other years passed.. ive been using a sweater mostly till now since it hasnt been cold some days and till now.

But could all this be because of Gloal Warming or just something random thats happening around here?

~Thx~
