As i write i can see two beautiful rainbows in the sky, both actually very strong in colour, but one question that has bugged me for years, why is the second rainbow, and often the third one too, always in reverse colour order. I know that rainbows are made by the suns light scattering through the raindrops, like light through thousands of prisms, but why are the colours reversed??

I really would like to get a north face coat for this winter. I'm away at college in northern IL and it gets really cold and windy during the winter. I was thinking about the redpoint jacket but someone I know said it looked thin and that most of the womens jackets looked very thin. What is the best north face coat I can get for these weather conditions without spending much more than $200?

I mean, it's not like these places (New York, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania) are close to the equator like Florida or Puerto Rico are. Why does it get so humid in these states? It seems like it should be dry because they are so far north of the equator and the tropical zones.

Please don't say it's all due to global warming either because I lived in PA in the early 80s and it was hot and humid way back then too.
