why is rotation important for causing season??

There is only one cause of seasons; the tilt of the earth. Rotation only effects night and day.

Rotation means spinning about the axis.The earth's rotation brings about days and nights only.But earth's revolution(which i suppose you mean) around the sun along with a tilted axis produces the seasons.
